Hang Out and Play
In search of serotonin
Show Notes Transcript

Hi friends! Today we decided we needed our brains to make the happy chemicals so we're playing one of our silly favorites - Toontown Rewritten! Come along with us while we ramble about sellbots and missing our childhood.

Karly
[music] Hey there, welcome to our podcast where we try to figure out life together one video game at a time. I'm Karly.

Sam
And I'm Sam. Grab a snack, grab your controller and let's hang out and play. [music fades out]

Okay.

Karly
Hey friend!

Sam
Hey buddy.

Karly
Hey duuuude.

Sam
How are you?

Karly
Um, you know, I'm here. I'm hanging in there. How are you?

Sam
I mean, same, but I need you to know that I am giddy about the game that we're gonna be playing today.

Karly
Oh my God same it's been so long. I texted Sam today. And I was like, hey, this has been a terrible week. Can this be our serotonin episode? And she said yeah, so Sam, what are we playing today?

Sam
We are playing the one and only Toontown Rewritten.

Karly
Yes. I'm so excited. When I was a kid. I couldn't play Toontown because we had like a family computer but it was really crappy and it couldn't play Toontown. But I always saw the commercials and I always was desperate to play. And then pretty early in our friendship. I feel like we discovered Toontown Rewritten. We even like waited for it to be released. Like we all got on and played. It's been like a staple of our friendship.

Sam
Yes, it really has and I am so excited to be playing it today. But it looks like the last time I played was around Halloween because my toon who is named Bingo Pumpkinsnooker love that is dressed as a pirate. So I'm assuming the last time I played was Halloween time.

Karly
I'm dressed up for Christmas.

Sam
Oh, well, maybe I played on my with my other toon. Maybe around Christmas.

Karly
Yeah, we all have several characters. My tune is named Fluffy Sparklegoober. She's a teal bear. We love her.

Sam
I love that. And mine is like a Blue Bear. I'm about to get her dressed up for St. Patrick's Day.

Karly
I am checking my mail. I've ordered apparently like five different pairs of wings. So bat wings fairy wings. Think we're gonna go with fairy wings.

Sam
I love that.

Karly
Yeah, same. So catch me up. I feel like I haven't talked to you much this week.

Sam
Yeah, I feel like that's just because I've been a depressed Goblin.

Karly
Yep. Same absolutely same.

Sam
I feel like because both of us were kind of depressed goblins. I don't know, I feel like we just kind of isolated not not talk to each other. But yeah, just kind of isolated, not on purpose. I just a lot of times when I'm feeling very overwhelmed or sad, I don't really want to do anything or talk to anyone. And it's nothing against them. It's just, I don't want to exist. I want to exist. But like, I want to quiet myself down essentially. So I honestly couldn't even tell you what I've done this week. Except work. And sleep.

Karly
Yeah. Yeah, I'm kind of the same, I think for me, is that when I'm sad or anxious, it comes out as anger a lot, even though I'm not like necessarily intending for that.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
And I know that about myself. And I know that sometimes that anger can be a little bit misplaced. So sometimes I'll kind of like keep to myself, because I'm afraid of being a jerk to my friends.

Sam
Right, right.

Karly
But you know, not the healthiest, but at least I know that about myself. I recognize it.

Sam
True. Also, side note, Karly's toons home is so pretty.

Karly
Wow, thanks friend!

Sam
It's so nicely decorated.

Karly
Well, you know me, you know, I'm gonna decorate also, there's a shamrock wallpaper in the catalog today.

Sam
I know, I feel like I don't have enough jellybeans and by not enough, I have over 2000 but that's not enough. So we're just gonna wait until we do some of these tasks because all of my tasks are for jelly beans.

Also, you know, we got to ride that trolley.

Yes, for sure.

Karly
I don't remember what my-

Sam
Sorry. I didn't mean to get us off topic, but

Karly
No, that's fine. I just need to defeat cogs.

Sam
Okay, me too.

Karly
So easy tasks. Our toons are very like high level now. So our tasks aren't as fun.

Sam
But we're in a so I want to level up my trap. Oh, of course, I was gonna say we can do some buildings in the pencil pusher invasion. But it just ended. I'm going to see if there's another one.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
While I do that I do have a question for you and it's random.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
So I've been holding onto it since therapy.

Karly
okay.

Sam
And it's a very silly question.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
But, actually hold on, I think there is a there is a name dropper invasion and hiccup hills, so I'm going to go there.

Karly
Okay. I'll go there too.

Sam
If you could be any kind of food, what food would you be? And why?

Karly
Okay.

Sam
Or maybe not a why if you don't have a why, but

Karly
Okay, well, here's an important clarification. Is this like the food that I aspire to be? Or the food that I feel like is the most accurate representation of me?

Sam
No, what you would aspire to be?

Karly
Okay. Hmm.

Sam
Also, I'm in the Burg. Just so you know.

Karly
So am I. I think I would be a loaded baked potato.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
You know, it's not the best for you. But it's delicious. And it never disappoints.

Sam
Yeah,

Karly
I think if we were going with like, what would be a more accurate representation of me? It would be leftover reheated french fries. Great in theory, but you know, it just never hits the way you want it to. It's always a little bit of a letdown.

Sam
That's fair.

Karly
What about you? What's your answer?

Sam
You can teleport to me.

Karly
Aren't we like right here together, though?

Sam
Oh, I don't know.

Karly
We went to the same district. You said you were in the Burg.

Sam
Yeah, but I went down a street.

Karly
Girl. Which street?

Sam
Sleet Street. I think

Karly
I'll just teleport.

Sam
So the food that first came to my mind was a sprinkled donut is the food that I want to be

Karly
okay.

Sam
And I think mostly just because I'm craving donuts, and I don't know, I really like donuts and donuts make a lot of people happy.

Karly
This is true.

Sam
And I would like to think I make people happy.

Karly
You do friend. You do. Also. I really miss doughnuts. I've had a doughnut so long. I haven't had a doughnut since the pandemic started.

Sam
I'll deliver you a doughnut.

Karly
Okay. There's this one place nearby called donuts to go. And they have the best donuts I've ever had in my entire life. They have a square glazed donut and it's just so perfect. They have a maple bacon glaze. It's really good, man, what I wouldn't give.

Sam
Yeah, I yeah, I miss donuts. As far as the food I feel like most accurately represents me though. Hmm. That's a good question. I don't know. You have those answers? Like, *snap* ready. I don't. I don't know

Karly
Well, it's just my love of potatoes. Anytime I have a chance to appreciate a potato. I'm ready.

Sam
Yeah. My first thought was like, sounds so stupid. But like one of those like frozen veggie bags that when you put in the microwave and they get too hot, they start to scream. Cause like, same.

Karly
But also great in a time of need.

Sam
Yeah, true. Quick, efficient, ready to go. So

Karly
yeah. I love that for you. I love a good frozen bag of veggies frozen broccoli,

Sam
I mean same, frozen broccoli. Chefs kiss.

Karly
Honestly.

Sam
Yeah. So maybe that's what I am.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
Let us know what you what kind of food you would be. I'm curious.

Unknown Speaker
Yes. Tweet us, @hangoutandplay. Yeah, man. Now I'm hungry.

Sam
Same.

Karly
We really played ourselves.

Sam
Oooo, what do you want do what do you want to do?

Karly
Let's throw. We're in a building currently.

Sam
Yes for - Well, how about we, because I'm sure we're probably speaking gibberish to a lot of people that don't know what Toontown is,

Karly
you know, adults

Sam
kind of give them right. Do you- listen, adult grown adults had to make this game so,

Karly
true.

Sam
I'm not even mad about it.

Oh, whoops.

Karly
Well, that's alright.

Sam
Okay. Anyway, do you? Do you want to give the listeners kind of a quick synopsis of whatt toontown is?

Karly
Yeah sure. Toontown is a beautiful game that screams 90s or early 00's and you pick a character and you run through these different Disney inspired towns, basically. And there are these robots that roam this streets and takeover buildings and you have to fight them to, I guess, like take back the towns. And you get different tasks where you fight them with different gags. So we just lured a cog into a trapdoor that he fell down. And they all have really cheesy names and really cheesy like sayings when you're fighting them.

Sam
Yes.

Karly
I love it so much.

Sam
Yeah, it's really really fun. That's a really good. Yeah, synopsis of it, for sure.

Karly
I mean, it's totally janky and half the time you play is it crashing but for like a free fanmade recreation, I think it's great. I love it.

Sam
Yeah. So this is, so Toontown Rewritten. So there was originally Toontown and then and it was like you could, you could sign up for free. But then if you wanted to get past like a certain point, you'd have to pay, like a certain amount, like per month and stuff like that it was a membership thing, which I totally had. No shame. I was obsessed.

Karly
Yeah, I wasn't allowed.

Sam
And then they closed it down, or they shut it down, or whatever the case may be. And then it was such a popular game that a bunch of people basically, rebuilt it, rebuilt the game from the ground up. Yeah. And so it's free to play.

Karly
And they still like actively maintain it and do events and stuff.

Sam
Yeah, yeah, there's a toonfest. There was a toonfest that was supposed to be happening. And I think that it got postponed because of COVID, obviously, but

Karly
What a bummer. Yeah.

Sam
I'm gonna go back to the playground real quick and get more trap gags.

Karly
Okay, we can do the trolley if you want.

Sam
Sure. Yeah.

Karly
So you pay for everything with jelly beans, and you can earn them by

Sam
how sweet, pun intended.

Karly
Wow.

Sam
How pure.

Karly
Um, so yeah, you pay with jelly beans. And you can get them either by doing different tasks. Or you can play mini games on the trolley, which is my preferred method. But

Sam
You can also fish.

Karly
That's true. You can you can fish. But while we are in between buildings, as this is our serotonin episode, I have collected some things to present with you while we're recording.

Sam
Okay,

Karly
um, the first is a BuzzFeed quiz. Because as

Sam
You know, we love a good BuzzFeed quiz.

Karly
It's true. I know you love these. And I found one that screamed Sam. Are you ready?

Sam
Yes.

Karly
The title of this quiz is "Unfortunately, only some people will be able to tell which of these quotes are from New Girl and which are from my mom."

Sam
Okay,

Karly
okay, quote number one. "I can't say the alphabet unless I'm singing the song and I never learned how to love But enough about me." New Girl or my mom?

Sam
I feel like that's new girl.

Karly
Yes Nick said that.

Sam
I was gonna say I was gonna guess I was gonna guess Nick.

Karly
Quote number two. "I personally adore gas station television. It's the intersection between information and well, gas."

Sam
I feel like that would also be either a nick Miller or Schmidt quote. Or not. I don't remember hearing that quote. I'm gonna say it's not.

Karly
It's new girl.

Sam
Oh, dang. Who said it though?

Karly
Winston.

Sam
Oh, God. I was way off base. Dang. Okay.

Karly
"He can play piano very well. That's very sexy."

Sam
I'm gonna guess not new girl.

Karly
Correct. "She's tanned and toned. And there's not an ounce of body fat on her. I was thinking about how much I hate her last night."

Sam
New Girl.

Karly
Nope. It was their mom.

Sam
Dang! Okay.

Karly
That one does sound like a quote that Jess would have said.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
"I wouldn't even know how to begin to steal swag."

Sam
Not new girl.

Karly
It was Schmidt

Sam
oh my gosh, I'm not doing well here.

Karly
Wow. I think this is just proving that you need to rewatch new girl.

Sam
I am rewatching New Girl actually. But it's very, but very, very slowly because I'm watching it with Lexi.

Karly
"I should do some fake crying and make her feel bad."

Sam
Not new girl.

Karly
Correct. Got that one.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
"Families ignore things until they go away."

Sam
New Girl.

Karly
Yep. Do you know who said it?

Sam
Schmidt? No, not Schmidt. No, no, Nick.

Karly
It was Schmidt. It was Schmidt.

Sam
Oh, yeah. Okay, cool.

Karly
"You never told me 420 means weed. That's like h2o means water.

Sam
Not new girl.

Karly
Yep. That is a very mom quote.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Okay, okay. "I am the queen and I must go through the trash."

Sam
Did I say that?

Karly
Maybe?

Sam
I don't think that's new girl but I don't know.

Karly
It was another iconic mom quote.

Sam
Okay, yeah,

Karly
"You're allowed to be happy, but you're really annoying the way you're doing it."

Sam
New Girl.

Karly
Also me on Twitter to literally everyone. Yeah, it was a Nick quote.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
I'm ha-truth-inating.

Sam
say one more time.

Karly
I'm ha-truth-inating.

Sam
New Girl.

Karly
Yep, it was Nick.

Sam
That's what I thought.

Karly
"The fact that socks exist is proof that shoes don't work."

Sam
New Girl, Nick.

Karly
CeCe.

Sam
Oh, okay.

Karly
But you know you were close. Okay. Last one.

Yes.

"No, he was not just a friend. He loved me. I did not love him."

Sam
New Girl?

Karly
Nope. It was the mom.

Sam
Interesting.

Karly
You got 10 out of 13 right though.

Sam
Okay, that's not terrible.

Karly
You really no new girl. I tried to trick you. But you really knew your stuff. You definitely made your mom and probably mine proud. And there's a little GIF of Winston with thumbs up saying you did it.

Sam
I love that.

Karly
I Love New Girl. It's my new fall asleep show.

Sam
Yeah, I love it so much.

Karly
I used to I know people will probably laugh at me for this and judge me. But I used to, every night fall asleep to Friends. It was just like the ultimate comfort show for me. Because I mean, I watched it when I was really little. So I know every episode like, start to finish. So like I could just throw it on. I didn't have to think about it. I really miss it. Anyway, we just went on the trolley. Our first game is tug of war, which sucks. It's a real dud.

Sam
And sometimes they'll pin us against each other which they did today or sometimes they'll do Oh my god. I'm losing. No.

Karly
Ha, adios rat.

Sam
I was like in the green. No.

Karly
You played yourself.

Sam
Dang. Six jellybeans. What a load of hooey.

Karly
I swear to god if we get the memory game,

Sam
Or the picture. Well, yeah, picture game isn't that bad Because we can just... but um,

Karly
Oh, I love the tag game.

Sam
Except when it doesn't work.

Karly
Yeah, so one of the games is just tag and you have to run around collecting ice cream cones. But sometimes when you're it, you'll run into the other player and it won't let you give it away won't let you tag the other person.

Sam
It's also just really janky

Karly
Well, that's the whole game that's Toontown.

Sam
I mean, I know but like I feel like it's extra janky. Wow, this is a really close game. We're both like, right in it. I definitely hit you there. This game is... wow. I hit you again!

Karly
Falsehoods. Lies.

Sam
At least I got a little bit more jelly beans this time through. So fun.

Karly
So friend. I don't think most people who are listening.

Sam
Ohhhh!

Karly
Ice slide.

Sam
We just got the best game.

Karly
We really did. It's called ice slide. You get sat in the middle of a tire. And you have to fling yourself across like an ice rink. I forgot the word there for a second, a rink. And there's like a target in the middle. It's pure chaos. It pits you against your friends. It's incredible.

Sam
Damn.

Karly
But what I was about to say earlier was

Sam
yes.

Karly
I have been following you on this saga to get your Christmas present that has not ever arrived. Please update me.

Sam
Yes. So my parents before Christmas. We're like, we can -  Did I get hit with that?

Karly
No, I think I got it.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
I got hit by dynamite.

Sam
They basically was like, you know, we have an idea of what we want to get you. But that means like, you wouldn't have a lot to open like on Christmas Day. And I was like, No, that's fine. Like, I would rather be surprised and like I didn't really have an idea of like, what I wanted for Christmas anyway. So whatever. So they let me know, hey, it's going to be a couple weeks past Christmas like you'll get it by like early January. So I was like, okay, no, it was supposed to end by like January 28 or arrived by January 28. And then my parents had to come cancel that order and reorder it. And then the new one was supposed to get here by February by like the end of February.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
And then a couple like, like, I think it was like last week, my parents called me and was like, so here's the deal.

Karly
Also, I just annihilated Sam at ice slide.

Sam
I think it was like, Oh, no, you did. And I'm so mad. I just didn't want to talk about it. One more game.

Karly
Sure.

Sam
Okay. Um, so this was like, on a Monday or Tuesday, and - ugh.

Karly
We got one of the duds.

Sam
And it was supposed to arrive on Friday. So my parents call me like, hey, so your gift was supposed to arrive on Friday. However, what happened was, the box is damaged. And so they're gonna have to reorder it, but it was the last one in stock. So you're going to have to wait even longer for it. But we want to, but we want to tell you what it is. And then we can either reorder it, or we can just give you the money for it. So it is what March 11th. March 12. I don't even know what day it is.

Karly
March 12.

Sam
Okay, and this has been going on for since like before Christmas.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
Do you want to know what it was?

Karly
Yeah. Tell me.

Sam
Okay. It was a bike!

Karly
Aww, a bike? That's a good present.

Sam
Yeah, because like in the beginning of the pandemic, like bikes sold out everywhere, and you couldn't get a bike. It was like an outdoor activity that you could do.

Karly
Right.

Sam
And I love my cruiser bike that I have at home. Because I come from a beach town. So like, that's like, the best way to get around like in the summer and stuff.

Karly
I am fascinated by Sam's town by the way, like, you know in Gilmore Girls and they live in Stars Hollow and it's like this perfect little like idyllic town where everybody knows each other. And there's weird quirks and it's just silly. That's how I imagined Sam's town.

Sam
I mean, that's basically it for the most part. It's very similar to that.

Karly
I love that. But yeah, that's really exciting.

Sam
So yeah, so I haven't given them an answer yet. Like, would I rather take the cash or that bike? But I'm leaning towards the bike.

Karly
Yeah. Do you know like, which bike? Do they show it to you?

Sam
My dad actually did send me an email. I haven't looked at it yet, because I don't know why I just haven't. But it was really cute from what I like, told me what type of bike like style of bike It was so I could, like, look it up. And it was really cute. Had a basket.

Karly
I love bikes with baskets.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Do you want to know a really sad Karly story and by sad it's not really sad. I think it's funny when I think about it now so you can laugh at it.

Sam
Where did you go?

Karly
Girl? I don't know. I found you. I teleported to you. I've been running up and down the street. I cannot find you.

Sam
You I think you went the opposite way. My dude.

Karly
Hold on. I'm running.

Sam
You want to do you want to teleport to me? There's someone that needs help with the building I think.

Karly
Sure. Anyway, sad Karly story.

Sam
Yes, go. Ready.

Karly
So as you know, and as some people listening might know, I am disabled. I'm in a wheelchair. I was a little bit overconfident in my abilities as a child. One of my mom's favorite stories is that when I was like, four years old or something we would go to like the mall. And I would scream for her to put me down because I swore I can just do it. Just put me down. I got this. And like, I knew I couldn't walk. But like I I guess I just assumed I can figure something else out, I guess. So anyway, I grew out of that. I you know, it didn't last past being a toddler. But then when I was older, like seven or eight, I got it in my head. I want a bike. Because all the other kids my age had a bike and I was like I can do it. Just put me on a bike, I can do it. And I must have driven my parents crazy because I vividly remember the day we were at the store. And my dad finally was like, Karly, you cannot ride a bike. And I was like, I know I swear to you, I can. And so then he had to put me on the bike. I could not ride it and he was like, see, we told you you cannot ride this bike. Anyway, I think it's funny.

Sam
I liked it. I liked that attitude of like, no I can though. Like just let me do it.

Karly
I have not been that confident since my dad put me on that bike and put me in my place.

Sam
Confidence goals. Let's get back to - well that's the thing you know, like toddlers and like young children are like so confident, like,

Karly
For no reason, who gave them that right?

Sam
They have no reason to be but

Karly
yeah,

Sam
Yeah, I mean - I'm gonna use squirt. Like when, when they draw like they think that the best artists in the world like I want toddler level of confidence.

Karly
Right? They like believe at least in part that they might actually be superheroes.

Sam
Mm hmm.

Karly
Man, oh to be a child.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Were you one of the kids who like couldn't wait to grow up or did you want to stay a kid?

Sam
Um, no, I wanted to stay a kid. I still want to be a kid.

Karly
Yeah, I see, I was weird. I don't think I really wanted to stay a kid. But I didn't really want to be an adult either. Which is kind of how I feel now. I just don't want to be.

Sam
I vividly remember being probably like 11 or 12 and having a legit panic attack in our red minivan that we had. Because I was freaking out about dying, and death. I was like an 11 year old.

Karly
No, that's fair. I mean, I was scared about like, death and stuff. But I don't know, growing up always kind of like freaked me out. But like, not for the same reasons. Like I wasn't worried about like, jobs and taxes.

Sam
Right.

Karly
I was just like, I don't know, I think I just didn't know like, know what I wanted to do. Like everybody else was like, Oh, I want to, you know, be a doctor or whatever. And I was like, I didn't have those kinds of like, childhood goals of like a career. I had no idea what to do with my life. That's persisted. Maybe not the confidence, but who boy, the existential crisis.

Sam
Whoohoo.

Karly
25 years going strong.

Sam
Yeah, I mean, I'm 27, 28 in a week, and I still don't really know what I want to do. So, you know.

Karly
I just want to win the lottery.

Sam
A mood. These big lip phoneys? I hate them.

Karly
Same. If you want to Google them, Google toontown sellbot you could see the monstrosity we're up against.

Sam
I was gonna say maybe what we'll do is we'll put some pictures on our social media accounts of

Karly
Oh, that's a good idea.

Sam
So people can kind of get an idea.

Karly
That's a good idea.

Sam
I'll take a picture of our toons in battle so people can see - oh this is not great- fun. I love this stupid game.

Karly
Same it makes me so happy. It's just like, such a good comfort game.

Sam
Honestly, I recommend it to anyone. Even if you think you're like, wow, that description sounds cheesy. It's dumb. It is. And it's fun as heck.

Karly
Yeah, I mean, I feel like we all kind of wish we were kids, especially like in the pandemic, we're tired of responsibilities we're tired of jobs that take advantage of us. We're tired of, you know, whatever it is, that's crappy for you at the moment. And we just want to get back to feeling like a kid again and this game will do that for you. And it's just super silly. So like, if you need a good game to play with your friends.? This is it.

Sam
Yeah, it is really really fun. Until it's not like me and Karly have a really bad habit of we're like, we are in it for like a couple of hours.

Karly
Yep.

Sam
And then and then all of a sudden we're like wow, this is this is too much. Yeah, this is too much.

Karly
Yeah, it does get infuriating really quick. Like if your gags miss and you get killed on a fight that absolutely should not have taken you down. Infuriating

Sam
That's another cute thing like when you quote unquote die. You don't die you become unhappy. And like isn't that the mood.

Karly
Right, the worst part about those that when you you get unhappy you get sad. You get sent to the playground. And you walk so slow, like your character barely moves. It's infuriating.

Sam
We're gonna have to do bossbot HQ.

Karly
Probably. I still- there used to be these buildings that you could go in that were different than the other ones. And

Sam
Oh my god, we hold up the trash cans wearing sunglasses.

Karly
I love that. That's really cute

Sam
Same

Karly
Um, but yeah, yeah, there used to be these buildings that you would take over. And I don't remember what they were do you?

Sam
No.

Karly
They were so good. They have like different minigames.

Sam
Yeah, they were fun though.

Karly
Yeah. Before we go into the next building, would you like your second dose of serotonin that I picked out for you?

Sam
Yes. Oh, well.

Karly
Well, I guess we're going in.

Sam
Well, I guess we'll do it after.

Karly
I can read it to you while we while we, uh.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
Okay. So I went looking for happy news articles. Are you ready for this headline?

Sam
Yes.

Karly
"Highland cows of Scotland are starring in their own coo cam shows."

Sam
I love that.

Karly
It's so wholesome. They've literally just set up like, cow live streams, basically. So you can just hang out and watch the cows.

Sam
Wow.

Karly
Oh, would you be a cow during a cam show.

Sam
Honestly.

Karly
I just want to hang out on a beautiful field and have everybody go online and talk about how cute I am.

Sam
Same.

Karly
How wholesome.

Sam
Gonna post a thirst trap today.

Karly
Oh, girl.

Sam
Maybe? We'll see.

Karly
Well, even if you don't post it like I want to see it.

Sam
Well, I have to shower first. So that is my activity or my goal after after we're done recording here.

Karly
Wow. Proud of you.

Sam
Thank you. It's the little wins during this Panini.

Karly
Hell yeah.

Sam
All right. All right. Here we go. Here we go. What should I What should we do? Should we trap?

Karly
Sure. I'll lure.

Sam
Great, thank you. I thought he was going to go for the other dude. And I was like, homie, you're dumb. But he didn't.

Karly
So I know it's been a rough week. Has there been anything that's been like making you happy? Getting through the week?

Sam
My dog.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
Rosie brings me joy and serotonin every day. For those that do not know, I have a shih tzu mix. Her name is Rosie. I've had her for about two and a half years.

Karly
How's it been two and a half years already?

Sam
I know. Isn't that crazy?

Karly
I still remember like the saga of you trying to get her?

Sam
Yeah. Yep. Two and a half years. I think she's currently under my bed chewing on plastic.

Karly
Well, it's better than her chewing on your underwear.

Sam
True. I just don't want her hurting her teeth. And like the thing about Rosie is like, I have bought her plastic toys and she wants nothing to do with them. Only the real stuff for Rosie.

Karly
She's a purist.

Sam
Right. She wants the organic plastic.

Karly
She's so cute though. She also loves my mom. When we were like

Sam
So much, like more than me.

Karly
Yeah, when we would hang out, Rosie would like just run straight to my mom. Like, it was really adorable. And my mom loves it because she gets like an ego trip from it.

Sam
I love that Rosie loves her so much. And I love that your mom loves her so much.

Karly
Yeah, my mom talks about her all the time. Like even when we're not facetiming she'll just random be like, I miss Rosie. I wish we could see Rosie.

Sam
She'll do that she she's a she's a heartbreaker. And a heart stealer.

Karly
She doesn't love me that much though. Which kind of offends me

Sam
She doesn't love me that much either.

Karly
Um, do you want to do sound just we can knock these guys out. Ehh, this guy's he's going hard so I'll get the middle.

Sam
Okay, I'm gonna get...

Karly
I did not click that. Oh, no. I swear to God. I did not click that. I clicked the the fire hose and clicked center.

Sam
That's okay.

Karly
Toontowns really playing me.

Sam
We still got - we still got there in the end.

Karly
Yeah, but still. Just another instance of Toontown betraying me.

Sam
Well, yeah.

Karly
I'm not gonna lie friend. I could just play this like the rest of the day.

Sam
Yeah, done.

Karly
I say that. We'd get like an hour into this and probably get so mad. We'd quit.

Sam
Yeah, well, I think we should definitely do the bossbot place.

Karly
Yeah,

Sam
Pretty sure you needed again.

Karly
Oh, I don't even know.

Sam
I mean, you have to return that task.

Karly
I know what is a run around task, so I've been avoiding it.

Sam
Okay, well, honestly, this is probably a good place to stop anyway. We just finished a building and coming up on time anyway.

Karly
How have we been doing this for 40 minutes?

Sam
I don't know. But I'm I'm ready to keep going.

Karly
Time flies when you're toontownin.

Sam
Honestly, if anyone makes a toon if they're like, wow, this has piqued my interest. Play with us. We we love it. We love playing.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
Well, perfect timing. The the invasion ended too. So

Karly
I like to think that we did all the work.

Sam
We really did. We single handedly push those named droppers out of toontown.

Karly
Honestly, you're welcome toons.

Sam
You're welcome. We saved the day. Single handedly.

Karly
Honestly, our talent is unmatched.

Sam
unmatched.

Karly
This was the serotonin that I needed.

Sam
Same I like I said, I was so giddy when you were like, let's play Toontown I was like yes! Okay!

Karly
Wow. Also, outside of my house, I have like a yard decoration that looks like one of those inflatable flailing arm tube mans. And I just love that. That's all.

Sam
I love that for you.

Karly
I just wanted to give him a shout out because he makes me happy.

Sam
Yeah, good. Whatever gives you that serotonin. Honestly. Anyway, um, what are you? What do you think you're gonna play next week?

Karly
I don't know. I kind of want to go back to little nightmares because I still haven't beaten that level. But I don't know. Maybe my switch will be back by then. It won't.

Sam
Maybe.

Karly
It won't.

Sam
We'll definitely maybe that's a maybe I'll play a little night. What? A little nightmares as well, because I said I was gonna play that last week for this week. And then we played Toontown instead. So maybe I'll I'll do that next week, too.

Karly
Although we can do something special because next week will be your birthday week.

Sam
Oh, True. True. True. True. Yeah. Maybe we'll do like a like a birthday Animal Crossing video.

Karly
Maybe I'll have to borrow my brother's switch. But I don't think he'll mind.

Sam
Yeah, we'll figure it out.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
Just like just like we're doing the rest of this podcast. We'll figure it out.

Karly
We're just winging it.

Sam
We are.

Karly
This has been so much fun. Thanks, friend.

Karly
Honestly thanks friend.

Sam
That sounded way darker. I did not mean it like that. I'll see you next time we're recording.
