Show Notes Transcript

Hi friends! Hang out and play some farming sims with us. Today we're talking about Karly's recent trip to the ER while playing Story of Seasons: Pioneer of Olive Town and Stardew Valley.  We go over first impressions of the story of seasons, get mad at each other over shows we haven't seen, and scroll through the eshop.

Karly

Hey there welcome to our podcast where we try to figure out life together one video game at a time. I'm Karly

Sam

And I'm Sam grab a snack, grab your controller, and let's hang out and play.

[Music]

Karly

Hey, buddy.

Sam

Hey, dude.

Karly

How are you?

Sam

I'm okay, little sniffly. These allergies got me out here just sniffling but I'm good.

Karly

Sniff Sniff.

Sam

Sniff sniff.

I was like blowing my nose when I came out to the kitchen and I was like, Yeah, my nose is my nose is really sniffly and you know, whatever. And Lexi looked at me, she goes, hear me out. COVID. I said I don't have COVID. Literally, April. First of all it's April.

Karly

I hate that.

Sam

We're so fine. Like, we don't go out like there's no way it could be COVID. Like, I'm just like, it's not COVID I just have allergies.

Karly

Yeah. I mean, technically, there's a way but it would be very unlikely at this point.

Sam

Correct. Yes. I mean, you're right. We... could it be? Sure, I guess. Is it likely? No, it's not. So I'm just like, leave me alone. You Goblin. You hypochondriac Goblin. Anyway, I'm okay. How are you? You have big updates to share with our listeners.

Karly

Don't I? Um, I am okay now, but it has been a doozy of a week.

Sam

Tell the people.

Karly

Okay, so there's a little bit of backstory. So for... it's really been happening for the past year, just randomly. I will be here in incredible amounts of pain, just out of nowhere, for seemingly no reason. I get like this really terrible pain in like my stomach that kind of feels like it cuts straight through to my back and it's miserable. There's nothing you can do for it. No matter how you sit. It hurts. If you lay down, it's worse. It's just not fun. It usually lasts for like an hour, maybe three, and then it's gone. It goes away as quickly as it came. It's really weird. didn't know what was going on. But like, like I said, like I always know it's temporary. So I kind of just ride it out. And then I'm fine. Well, Wednesday night, it started like around six o'clock. Got a little bit better. I had dinner. And then all hell broke loose inside my body.

Sam

Your body said no.

Karly

Yeah, I was in horrific pain for over 12 hours. I never, I never went to bed. I basically like just sat in my room cried all night. I threw up three times in like 10 hours. To the point where like, I was still trying to throw up but couldn't throw up anymore. This is really gross. I'm sorry, everybody

Sam

No, I mean, I've been there I that that usually happens to me. Like when I wake up and I'm super anxious and I body has this physical reaction to get sick. But my body's digested food at that point. There's nothing in there to throw up. So there's just like nothing,

Karly

Right

Sam

Yeah, so

Karly

yeah, it sucks. Um, so we called my lovely doctor or tried to, to be like, what do we do? Because further backstory is that when I was very young if I would throw up, I would get super dehydrated very, very quickly. Like, I would get dehydrated over the course of like a few hours the way somebody else would typically get dehydrated over the course of four days.

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

So pretty dangerous. And it never got diagnosed. They never knew why that happened. And they said I would probably grow out of it, which for the most part I have. It hasn't happened probably in at least 10 years, but like there's always the chance that it could. So like when I get to the point where I can't keep food down, we take it pretty serious.

Sam

Right.

Karly

So anyways, we call my doctor. You can't call and get ahold of a doctor anymore. You used to be able to, or at least a nurse. We call the only thing we're allowed to talk to is receptionist. She says she'll email what we said to a nurse, mark it urgent. And we'll hear back in 24 to 48 hours.

Sam

Oh my god.

Karly

And we're like, I don't have 28-24 to 48 hours.

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

So then there's like on the back of like my Medicaid insurance card. There's like a number you can call for a 24 hour hotline for nurses basically.

Sam

Okay.

Karly

We call them explain what was going on. And they basically said, You should go to the ER. And if you don't have anybody who can drive you call 911. We're like, great, I guess I'm going to the ER today. So yesterday at about 10 or 11am, I went to the ER. And that was fun. I was a little nervous because of COVID.

Sam

Sure

Karly

Obviously, but

Sam

Of course.

Karly

I was also really nervous. They were gonna make me wait forever, because I've had that happened before, but they took me literally immediately.

Sam

Amazing.

Karly

Yeah, I think is because it was a slow day. There wasn't very many people there. But yeah, they took -

Sam

That's also a good

Karly

Yes.

Sam

That's a good sign, too. That was nice.

Karly

Yeah, there was like nobody else in the waiting room. Except for one person who came in as I was getting checked in and they stayed far away. They are they took me in right away. And thus began the process of figuring out what's wrong with me. So three attempts to get an IN in which we knew what happened, I'm terrible to get bloodwork from, because I have tiny little veins, and I was dehydrated. So we knew it was gonna be miserable. It was, they had to use like the wand. Like, I don't think it was like a full ultrasound but basically ultrasound to like find veins in me. And even that didn't work. My nurse tried he dug in my arm for so long. I like almost got sick while he was doing it. But luckily I had nothing left to get sick on. So like I was fine. It was horrible.

Sam

Veins make me so queasy. Like the idea of like, I don't even like the word vein. Like

Karly

Yeah. Yeah. But um, shout out to Greg though. He was truly one of the best nurses I've ever had in my entire life. He was amazing.

Sam

Love that. Yay, Greg.

Karly

I know, he tried once to get it. And then he was like, I'm gonna go get somebody else who's really good at this. Hold on. He leaves the room. I hear him yell to the other nurse named Erin. He goes, I'll trade you whatever you're doing right now. So she came in it took her two tries, but she eventually got it. And then I had to have a CAT scan. And then I had to have an ultrasound. Turns out ya girls got gallstones.

Sam

Oh, you hoardin those deposits

Karly

Yeah I am

Sam

Do you know I looked at - so your mom was keeping us updated. So Karly's mom was keeping me and my roommate Lexi updated with everything going on. Because as we've talked about Karly and and her brother both disabled. And so we're basically we were on call yesterday just to make sure that Kevin was okay as well. And where was I going with this? Oh, yeah. So, Karly's mom finally like told us like what it was that it was gallstones and gonna be real honest. Your girl had no idea what that meant. I was like, What? What is that? What does that mean? Like, and I don't want to sound dumb. I was like that meme of like, you know, I don't know what that is. And at this point, I'm too afraid to ask.

Karly

Yeah

Sam

So I like looked it up.

Karly

Yeah, well, I'll make you feel better. After the doctor left the room. I leaned over to my mom's like, Mom, what does a gallbladder do? And she goes, I don't know.

Sam

Yeah, I mean, I don't know what the gallbladder does, either.

Karly

Yeah.

Sam

I just know that gallstones are just like little deposits.

Karly

Yeah.

Sam

They build up into your gallbladder.

Karly

Yeah. They weren't even going to. So when they did the CAT scan, he was like, okay, so we can see you have gallstones. This could be what's causing your pain. But by this point, because we'd been there for hours, because I mean,

Sam

yeah

Karly

I sat there for like an hour before we even did the CAT scan just because I had IV fluids in. So by of this point, it was probably like, 1 or 2 and he was like, it could be what's causing your pain. But my pain had already let up by then just on its own. And he was like, usually with gallstones, if it's like a problem and you're having pain, it's typically unrelenting. But he was like, everybody's different. So it could be that so we could do an ultrasound to see if you're like, inflamed. Do you have any infection, sometimes a stone will pass and it'll get stuck. And that's what's causing the pain. So we can check for that. He's like, or if you feel comfortable, and you feel fine, you can just go home and come back if there's a problem. And I was like, I'm here. I've done all of this. I just want to know. So we did an ultrasound, and there's no infection. Nothing is like wrong, aside from the gallstones. And he said, lots of people probably have them and just don't know because they have no reason to come in and get a scan.

Sam

That's horrifying.

Karly

I know. And he basically said, like, for right now, I'm fine. I should follow up with my regular doctor, which like, what the hell is he going to do? I don't trust that guy for nothing.

Sam

Right.

Karly

After it my mom was so mad at like, eight o'clock in the morning that they were like Oh, in 24 to 48 hours. She was like, we're getting a new doctor. That's it. I'm done.

Sam

Yeah

Karly

So at some point, I had to follow up with like my primary care doctor and decide where to go from there. But he said, it's like, technically an elective surgery. Just schedule it. And it's like an in and out same day, unless there's an issue with anesthesia. So at this point, I'm probably gonna have the surgery, because the only thing you can really do is change your diet. I looked up what you're not supposed to eat. Let me tell you, it's everything I eat.

Sam

Well, yeah. Heck it. Surgery.

Karly

It was like, don't eat any fatty meats like sausages. Or like deli meats. Don't eat eggs. Don't eat dairy. As I was reading this list, I was eating a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. I was like, wow, I'm really hecked aren't I. And they were like, no restaurant foods because they use excessive fatty things like butter and cheese and stuff. And so it's difficult to find things. Don't eat chocolate. Don't eat ice cream.

Sam

Sorry, we're in a pretzel.

Karly

Right?

Sam

I'm going to eat like what makes me happy.

Karly

Right.

Sam

Gallstones be damned.

Karly

Right at this point. I'm like, hasn't killed me yet. I guess I'll just keep going and see what happens.

Sam

Right.

Karly

So yeah.

Sam

So like did they give you anything like for the pain then? Like in the meantime? Like what? Okay.

Karly

No, they gave me IV fluids and zofran for nausea. And they gave me a script for zofran.

Sam

Hmm.

Karly

But I assume next time I'll just take like an aleve or something.

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

See what happens. But I will say I'm very anxious now to know that there's just shit rattling around inside of me that could just make me miserable whenever it wants.

Sam

Right. I hate that.

Karly

 Yeah. Yeah. And like, I'm

Sam

But at least you know what it is.

Karly

Yes. Because now for a year I've had this mystery rib pain is what I've called it. I never know when it's gonna happen. But when it comes, it's literally hell, it's so bad.

Sam

Yeah, you're I think your pain tolerance is also just probably ridiculously high.

Karly

You know, I think that too, but let me tell you, when they were rooting in my arm for a vein. I was such a baby. I didn't cry though.

Sam

Proud of you

Karly

I got as far as you could get to being close to crying without crying.

Sam

God, this is making me like, want to just like tuck my arms and let nobody touch them. Like, me very like. Like, just don't touch me. I'm sterile.

Karly

Right? Oh, two more things and then we'll move on to video games.

Sam
Yes

Karly

Three more things. One, when they put me in the CAT scan. They cocooned me is what they called it. They like tied a waistband around me and then wrapped the sheet up around me and like tucked it like a cocoon. That was great. I loved that. And the second

Sam

That sounds lovely

Karly

is that they were doing my ultrasound, and I'd been freezing all day. And if you've never had an ultrasound, the jelly that they use always seemed It was cold. It's not. It feels really hot when they put it on you and like warms up, and I was like Mom, don't judge me but like lowkey enjoyed that ultrasound. I've been locked up in our apartment for a year now I got this woman with her. She's a warm she's got this warm jelly on me. She just rubbin me down. I kind of liked it.

Sam

I'm just thinking about like being cocoon, like, swaddle me like a baby and just rock me back and forth. Isn't that country song or something like that?

Karly

I mean maybe, maybe you should be the one to write it.

Sam

Just swaddle me like a baby.

Karly

Yeah

Sam

Just rock me until I fall asleep.

Karly

Yeah, the third update is that I finally got my form so I can get my vaccine tomorrow.

Sam

Yes, Bish. Ohhh girl.

Karly

Yeah, and I was so nervous for the shot. But like after the needles yesterday, the shots gonna be nothing.

Sam

No- you're not honestly, Karly, you won't even feel it. The first one. I didn't even feel it.

Karly

I feel like I will. Because I'm a baby when it comes to needles, but I'm not. I'm not worried about it. I'm also just really excited to be in a real life store.

Sam

Yeah

Karly

I'm gonna go crazy. And that CVS I'm waiting for a squishmallow.

Sam

Ooh, girl.

Karly

Anyway, so what are we playing today?

Sam

I don't know. I so I'm doing that thing again. Just like I did last week of going to I'm going to spend to play spin to play so here we go.

Karly

Okay. We need like carnival music.

Sam

We can add it in. You can add it my little editing pro. It's let's go pikachu.

Karly

I'm not adding the music. But yay. I'm going to play story of seasons.

Sam

I'm so excited for you to play story of seasons because I'm so excited for you to tell me about it. I feel like we've been kind of like dancing around the subject for a while.

Karly

But then we keep getting distracted with other ideas and so I put it off.

Sam

Yeah, yeah. Oh, crap. I didn't save. Oh, Frick. Oh, I was playing animal crossing earlier. And I so I don't know where the last point was that saved because I think oh, I'll just go back to it.

Karly

Rippp

Sam

Oh, well.

Karly

You played yourself.

Sam

I truly did. That's okay. Again, I don't think I like I didn't do anything too crazy.

Karly

So what-

Sam

I have changed my island a lot though.

Karly

Really?

Sam

Not a lot, but I have done some updates, yeah.

Karly

I'll have to come over later.

Sam

Yeah. So what were you saying?

Karly

So what are you

Sam

Yikes. Jinx.

Karly

What are you going to do on Let's go Pikachu because didn't you beat this game?

Sam

So I beat the game in the sense of like I finished all the gyms however there is a Pokemon that I still want but I couldn't beat it last time. So I'm really just going to go around and like level up essentially.

Karly

Okay. Nice.

Sam

I honestly like haven't played this one in so long that I'm like, where what am I doing? Where am I?

Karly

Isn't that the worst.

Sam

Yes. It absolutely is. What should I wear? Where should I go? Alright, let's go here. You know, I started playing this but maybe

Karly

you chaos demon.

Sam

I know. Anyway, tell me about Wait, don't tell me what it's called. Olive town.

Karly

Yeah, that works. Okay, so if you are not aware of story of seasons, it's the original Harvest Moon.

Sam

Okay.

Karly

So I don't really know the full backstory to why it's now called story of seasons, but I know if you buy like the new Harvest Moon games, it's not by the same people who originally made Harvest Moon.

Sam

Okay

Karly

So apparently the new Harvest Moon games are like not very good. I don't know I haven't played them. That's just what I've heard. So

Sam

Okay.

Karly

Story of seasons. has very similar graphics, it reminds me a lot of like, my time at portia.

Sam

Yeah

Karly

like, yeah, cutesy anime ish people kind of, but it plays very much like Stardew Valley, which makes sense. Because I'm pretty sure that Harvest Moon inspired Stardew Valley. So you basically, in this new game, you start out, you build your character, you've inherited your grandpa's farm. And you move in to like, take over rebuild it. The place is like filled with leaves and like "leaves" weeds. And you have to chop trees, hit rocks, build stuff. So very, very similar. And you're also then helping to basically rebuild the town to revitalize like tourism.

Sam

Yeah

Karly

and you can have pets, you can go mining, fishing, crafting, cooking, you can romance and make friends, etc. So very, very similar to stardew valley.

Sam

Yeah, I one of my favorite YouTubers played it and was um she did a video on it. And

Karly

I started watching it.

Sam

Did you?

Karly

Yeah, you're talking about theamandafiles right?

Sam

Yes,

Karly

Yeah, I started watching. I think I got like, halfway.

Sam

I don't want to play let's go pikachu.

Karly

What are you gonna play instead?

Sam

I don't know

Karly

You should play Stardew because then we're kind of like doing the same thing.

Sam

I was gonna say that I was gonna say Stardew. I wish I had Portia on my switch though. Cause I really do love Portia.

Karly

I think it's on sale.

Sam

Shut up.

Karly

It was a few days ago

Sam

Shut up your beautiful face. Maybe I'll just spend the time looking through the eshop because that's also what we do when we say we're gonna play video games with each other.  We spend a solid like 50 minutes just playing or going through the eshop.

Karly

I hate it, but you're not wrong. So for my birthday, which was back in January, it wasn't recent. My brother got me a switch gift card. And I hoarded it for a long time because I was waiting until my switch had gotten repaired. So I decided to save it for the story of seasons game because it's like 50 bucks. And I don't like to spend a lot of money. And I will say I'm really enjoying the game, but I think I'm glad that I use the gift card.

Sam

Okay.

Karly

Um, there's just a couple things about it that kind of bummed me out. So for example, you know, how in stardew there are, like, town events or whatever, like happened, like the egg hunt?

Sam

Yes.

Karly

And you get to play the egg hunt.

Sam

Yeah

Karly

And granted, it's like a minute, but you still get to participate in the event.

Sam

Right.

Karly

Okay. So one of the events came up, the first one in the game was an egg hunt. And I was like, Alright, stardew prepared me for this. And the stardew egg hunt is hard.

Sam

It is hard.

Karly

So I felt like extra prepared. You don't get to play it. It was just a cutscene. I was like, that's such a bummer. And the other thing is, I feel like the dialogue is just really empty and generic. And

Sam

okay

Karly

like, it doesn't really matter what you do. Like if I don't know, it just feels very blah. Like, it doesn't matter. I never find myself wanting to talk to anybody. Because they're all just gonna be like busy day. Nice weather.

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

so that's kind of a bummer. But it is really, really cute. And it is fun to play. I think it's fairly easy, which could be a pro or con depending on like what kind of player you are.

Sam

Right.

Karly

So like, if it's the kind of thing you love, if you love It's like the story of seasons or Harvest Moon games in the past, you'll probably like it. But if you're just looking for a farming, crafting life simulator kind of game. I do think there are better games for cheaper or at least games that are just as good for cheaper. Like Stardew or even my time at portia.

Sam

Yeah. Okay,

Karly

But I do really like it. And I would say it's if it's on sale, I would recommend it.

Sam

Good to know.

Karly

Yeah,

Sam

Very good to know. Now you got me out here thinking about Portia.

Karly

I will say

Sam

I was thinking about Oh, sorry.

Karly

I was just gonna say I will say the one thing that story of seasons does great is their animals are the cutest

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

Especially the cows.

Sam

I'm stuck in my pig pen. Oh my god petch is in the way and he won't let me go. Okay.

Karly

Rip.

Sam

Rip.

Karly

So you are playing stardew you're not in the eshop?

Sam

I am.

Karly

Okay.

Sam

Yes. I'm gonna go to the volcano islands, I think.

Karly

Nice. I still haven't done that yet.

Sam

Oh wait, maybe I won't because I have I have 26 geoodes

Karly

Wow,

Sam

Maybe I will. Maybe I'll just go get those taken care of.

Karly

So what about you friend any life updates for you?

Sam

Um.

Karly

Okay.

Sam

Nope.

Karly

Well that's not true you got your second vaccine?

Sam

I did. I did get my second vaccine. Very grateful. We were in and out in like, a half hour, which was great. I see my parents next week.

Karly

Next week. Wow. I didn't realize they were coming that soon.

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

Do you guys have any plans?

Sam

Well, there are going to be house hunting, essentially. For the most part. I think Sunday. I work on Sunday, but I can take my work stuff and work from wherever.

Karly

Are you gonna go to Tampa?

Sam

I don't. I'm not going to go like to Tampa. It's like around the Tampa area, I think. But I don't know if I don't know exactly. I don't have the address.

Karly

But you're going to like go to them. They're not coming up here.

Sam

Yes. Correct.

Karly

Gotcha. So is that like where they want to move like in the Tampa area?

Sam

Yeah, like on the West Coast. Yeah, it's funny because like, so last week, me and Lexi visited her family who was on Anna Maria Island, and you have to pass through the city called Bradenton. And that's actually like, where my parents were looking. And so when I was talking to them, my mom was like, oh, like, we're like, did you drive on manatee Avenue? And I was like, yeah, we were on manatee Avenue. My mom's like, Oh my gosh, like, that's like some streets that like that are familiar. Like, I've been looking at houses like off of that street. And I was like, it was just like, really interesting. But yeah, so like that area, like two hours away.

Karly

I have never been over there. We don't really do a lot of road trips in my family.

Sam

Yeah. Fun fact, it was a two hour drive. And it took us four hours.

Karly

Why?

Sam

Because that's Florida. There's just tons of traffic.

Karly

Gross.

Sam

I'm sad because I feel like today I'm just, I'm in one of those moods where like, no video game is sticking. Like, I'm playing Stardew but I'm like, I don't want to be playing this.

Karly

It's because in your head you're like new game new game new game.

Sam

Yeah, that's probably it. Oh, I need to go to the mines. That's right, because, okay, I have to catch I have to get catch a bunch of bug meat for posting on the town center. Oh, man. Yeah, I don't. Oh, I do have an update. It's very small. But it brings me so much joy. My favorite illustrator Joanna Basford. released a new coloring book. And I bought it should be here by tomorrow.

Karly

Wow.

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

That is exciting.

Sam

I'm so excited to have it tomorrow. I for those that don't know. I love to color. I wouldn't say I'm great at it. But I'm not terrible.

Karly

No you're great at it. I think you are.

Sam

Thank you. I appreciate that.

Karly

Yeah.

Sam

But yeah, and I love her books. I color exclusively in Joanna Basford coloring books, essentially. Um, and, yeah, so it should be here by tomorrow, because I have a free trial of Amazon Prime. Why did I say? I was gonna say Amazon Prome. It came out really weird.

Karly

Your voice did go on a journey.

Sam

It really did. Thank you for coming with me on that. And anyway, I have amazon prime. It's a free trial and I haven't used it so

Karly

Nice.

Sam

Like, might as well.

Karly

Yeah. Treat yourself.

Sam

Thank you. Yeah, it was 12 bucks. So

Karly

That's not bad they're huge coloring books. They last forever.

Sam

They really are. I have yet I have almost all of hers and I have yet to completely finish one.

Karly

Yeah. Well, I love that for you. It's the little things, you know.

Sam

It really is to get us through this pandemi.

Karly

pandemi lavato.

Sam

pandemi lovato. I'm also so are you? Are you guys ordering food today for fun food Friday?

Karly

I don't think so.

Sam

What are you guys having for dinner then?

Karly

Um, we're gonna have Boca cheeseburgers and potato skins. Which like the potato skins are not great for my gallbladder.

Sam

Well, nothing is good for your gallbladder.

Karly

No.

Sam

As you've researched So,

Karly

but the boca burgers should be okay.

Sam

Yeah

Karly

we'll see.

Sam

I'm very hungry. I had so last night me and Lexi got Chinese food. That wasn't very good. It usually is. But it was kind of disappointing last night, and I had a little bit of leftover. And that's literally all I've eaten today. And I am very, very hungry. And I know this kind of sounds kind of random to be talking about it, but my stomach just growled really loudly. So I thought I would discuss.

Karly

Yeah, we ordered food when I when I got home yesterday because we hadn't eaten all day.

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

And we like we obviously hadnt prepared for a meal.

Sam

Right.

Karly

Um, so we ordered checkers.

Sam

Oh, God.

Karly

Let me tell you, I had regrets.

Sam

Really?

Karly

Yeah. Because, like I I just had such a touchy stomach just because my stomach was empty. And so I always kind of feel sick when I'm not hungry anyway. So like eating like semi spicy chicken. Not great. Um, but yeah, I don't know. Today I still just kind of feel blech. So,

Sam

Okay, I mean, to be fair, like, you were literally in the hospital. Like about 12 hours? Not 12 hours go 24 hours ago.

Karly

Yes. I was like, just getting home this time yesterday. Yeah, around this time.

Sam

So I mean, you know, but those those chicken bites from checkers, that $3 box. So freakin good.

Karly

Even if you get like the half pound. If you jump it up to the $6 box, which I recommend. Still good.

Sam

Okay, good to know. Yeah, maybe that's what me and Lexi will eat for dinner because you know, that's all I'm gonna think about now.

Karly

Get get a $3 Chicken bite box. And you can use the rest of the money to buy yourself a new game, Portia on sale. And then we could play Portia together next episode.

Sam

We could

Karly

Because we can have a whole thing about it because I think my time is sandrock is coming out semi soon. Which is the the sequel.

Sam

Oh, the sequel? Hear me out. I also Okay, so I could buy it on my switch or next week we could just like I could just play it on the PlayStation.

Karly

True. That's very true.

Sam

Because I do I did get really far

Karly

Yeah, but see, I have to start over so so do you because I had it on my brother's switch. And I had to get it on mine. So now I have to start over.

Sam

No.

Karly

Yes.

Sam

That's not how this works.

Karly

It is though.

Sam

No. All right. Let me see how much it is after this. After this day ends, you know, I'm quitting stardew. I just feel like and this is my own fault. And so I really just like need to give myself some space. But I got really I went really hard with Stardew Valley back in December

Karly

Yeah, yeah she did

Sam

Like all I did almost. And then and then we're just as the update for the switch came out and then like the biggest update, I kind of hit my threshold of like, kind of over it.

Karly

Then you switched to Pokemon

Sam

Yes. Yes, I did. So here we are. I just feel like I just need a little bit of a break.

Karly

Yeah, that's fair. I get that way with Animal Crossing sometimes like, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it. But sometimes I just need something else.

Sam

Yeah, absolutely.

Karly

The other thing that I wanted to mention to you about story of seasons that I don't know how much you'll love is that, from what I can tell, there aren't like, there's not like a like a button you can hit to like see like your list of objectives for like the time being. So like, when you get your farm, there's like, the coop, and it tells you what you need to basically like refurbish it, fix it, so that you can move chickens in. So like, you know, you have that. And like, there are all these different things scattered around the farm. And you can click them and see what you have to do. So like you have those objectives in mind. And then they're sort of like little mini tasks you can do like in like the town hall, there's a list on the board, very similar to like Portia, where people need certain things, and you can meet requests, but as far as I've gotten, that's basically it. And so you can kind of just like, run your day, however you want. And you know, that like, the main goal is to like build up your farm and do whatever you want with it. But it's, I feel like Stardew has a lot more daily things that like,

Sam

Yeah.

Karly

You kind of always have something to do on Stardew. Right, so like you're never starting today, like man, I don't know what to do today. And story of season so far can be a little bit like that. Which I don't mind but I know

Sam

But you looking out for me.

Karly

I am

Sam

I do you love a quest. I do love a good quest. Anyway, should we should we do a wheel topic?

Karly

Sure if you want with our like, 10 minutes to go?

Sam

Yeah,

Karly

Sure.

Sam

Let's see if we get a good one. I'll pause my stardew game.

Karly

Sam loves her little wheel.

Sam

I do I do love this little wheel

Karly

She's gonna be doing this for the next 10 episodes until she's bored with it.

Sam

Oh, this is a good one. Oh, it's on the edge of two. But I'm going to do the other one because I feel like that can be done pretty quickly. Okay, um, a TV show that is popular that you've never seen an episode of.

Karly

Oh, that's easy. Bridgerton

Sam

Okay. Okay.

Karly

Yeah.

Sam

I mean, I knew this about you.

Karly

Yep.

Sam

But I really need you to watch it.

Karly

You know this about me, but you don't like it about me.

Sam

Correct.

Karly

Yeah.

Sam

It's the only thing I don't like about you

Karly

Has to be something I guess.

Sam

Now follow up question. Do You Have you not seen it? Because you have no interest in seeing it? Or you just like haven't gotten around to to seeing it?

Karly

Literally no interest at all.

Sam

Oh, my God. Okay.

Karly

it looks so boring to me.

Sam

Wow, you look so boring to me. How about that?

Karly

Sure. I agree with that statement. I mean, I will say I have heard it's brilliant. The actors are great. I just, I'm not usually into like those kinds of that genre. It's just not my vibe. What about you?

Sam

There's a couple. I've never seen the walking dead. I've never seen game of thrones. Although if you want to be really technical. I have watched about a minute of walking dead. I was like, Oh, let me give this a chance. And so for those that do watch walking dead or have seen it or you know, whatever the case may be the first episode of the first season. And I'm not spoiling anything. From what I remember, first episode of the first season. It's a shot of all these cars, like on a street. And there was a horse.

Karly

Yes.

Sam

And I turned it off. I was like the horse is gonna die. Can't do it. can't watch it. And I turned it off

Karly

That horse bites it real bad real quick.

Sam

Yeah, so couldn't do it. So technically, I guess I have seen part of The Walking Dead but I haven't like same Game of Thrones never seen anything of it. And then I don't think I've ever seen a full episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Karly

Okay, of the three

Sam

I think we talked about this before. And I think it's just it's just too gory for me. I don't have the stomach for it.

Karly

um I mean that's fair I feel like it's really easy to know when it's good to look though like

Sam

Sure

Karly

There's not usually a lot of surprise gore on that show, of the three

Sam

right but it’s most of the show I just feel like I would be spending most of my time not

looking

Karly

no most of it is like them boning in the on-call room and pining after each other. All of that all of that is enough that you would enjoy the show like that would make up for it for you

Sam

I mean you're not wrong it's why I really like bridgerton there's a whole episode where it's all just it's just all sex all of it there's a whole montage and I live for it

Karly

Okay

Sam

it was sex and taylor swift like

Karly

so let me pitch this to you sense8

Sam

eh

Karly

Everybody in the world should watchsense8 it's one of the best shows I've ever seen. I will forever be in mourning that I got cancelled way too soon. man.

Sam

I mean I watched the first episode with you.

Karly

it's just not enough it's so good

Sam

I mean I know I know.

Karly

it's so good

Sam

Me and Karly have like a list of shows that we need to finish.

Karly

and we never will

Sam

I need to also finish the fosters.

Karly

yes yes

Sam

You would think being in quarantine for over a year I would have gotten around to watching some of these shows.

Karly

No because all we do is play our games and sit on facetime

Sam

This is true this is true

Karly

I will say though in regards to your list the walking dead is worth ignoring just for what they did to my boy glenn and anybody who's seen the walking dead if they have any taste at all agrees with me that

Sam

okay

Karly

the moment they did that's a glenn the show was crap and it's still going and it just

Sam

Oh really?

Karly

somehow

Sam

I thought it was over.

Karly

I think it's like ending this month like for good but.

Sam

okay

Karly

It has not I haven't watched it for several years now because it's just not good anymore and game of thrones, there was so much gratuitous rape in that show.

Sam

Yeah

Karly

it was absolutely ridiculous and the ending sucked ass it was like almost universally hated so you dodged a bullet

Sam

okay

Karly

yeah

Sam

good to know

Karly

grey's anatomy though

Sam

Yeah

Karly

it's it's very much like basic white girl kind of show but it is a great show if you need something to binge because it just goes on and on and on and like it's very soap opery but

Sam

so gone home is on sale and for like four dollars.

Karly

okay

Sam

and I watched a let's play of it a long time ago but here's the thing about this let's play I watched and I think you watched the same one.

Karly

I know exactly what you're gonna say and I agree.

Sam

yes I'm about to buy it okay so gone home is like it's basically just like a story game like nothing happens but you like go through the rooms.

Karly

yeah it’s like a narrative game

Sam

it's very yeah it's very suspenseful there's different clues you can pick up and things like this and this guy he's like collecting a whole bunch of stuff and he misses a piece of paper on the ground and somehow he misses it

Karly

it's not even like a hard to see one either it's right there

Sam

It's like straight up in the middle of the room and he doesn't see it he never goes back to it and i

finished that let's play and I was like I can't I was so mad and this was like years ago this is probably like four years ago that I watched this let’s play and I am still angry that this game did not pick up the piece of paper I'm about to spend four dollars on this game just so I can pick up that damn piece of paper.

Karly

Lexi made me watch that and I was mad the whole time it was like all I could think about like what is that piece of paper and how did he miss it

Sam

Yeah

Karly

Especially because he made a point of like trying to find like every collectible

Sam

Yeah

Karly

Yeah but what about portia?

Sam

Spyro's on sale. I don't know hold on, I'm just looking at the sales. i don't know.

Karly

When I was getting my blood work drawn i said to the nurse i'm like well I will be self-soothing this weekend by buying something just to treat myself for this so maybe I will buy a new game as well

Sam

The flame in the flood that looks interesting. Cattails.

Karly

I've heard really good things about cattails it's basically like pitched as like stardew but with cats let me tell you why I didn't buy it one time when it was on sale for like less than a dollar because it literally starts out you're like a cat that gets abandoned on the side of the road by its people

Sam

No

Karly

And I was like I can't play this. Yeah and then like the other cats like teach it how to be a wildcat basically I was like I can't play that even if 99.9% of the great game is great I cannot get past that first cut scene

Sam

I mean that's fair. Yonder is on sale.

Karly

I did see that maybe we'll both buy that and play it next week

Sam

Or are we gonna play portia? Alright hold on let me I'll look up, you know I keep saying I'm going to look it up but like I just keep scrolling on the e

Karly

I know

Sam

eshop because that's what happens you just like keep scrolling it's like tiktok

Karly

It really is

Sam

Okay I'm gonna I'm gonna look okay. Portia.  Boop. No it's not on sale.

Karly

oh

Sam

It's thirty dollars

Karly

Well I guess that settles that then

Sam

But let's look at my wish list and see what games are on sale

Karly

Well before you do that because we've already we're almost at 50 minutes here

Sam

Yes here we are uh

Karly

What do you think you're gonna play next week? Is it gonna be a new game or are we gonna be spinning a wheel?

Sam

Maybe no let's play portia

Karly

Okay

Sam

Maybe

Karly

Okay

Sam

I'm not gonna hold us to that but

Karly

You know I'm not really sure why we ask each other what we're gonna play next week because we like never stick to it

Sam

I know but it's it's nice to have goals and dreams

Karly

This is true this is very true

Sam

And I'm really excited for among us tonight with our friends

Karly

Oops I wasn't paying attention and I accidentally did too many things and I passed out in my game

Sam

Yikes

Karly

Yeah I don't know if I lose anything this is the first time it's happened but yes I am also excited for among us and to answer my own question I think i'm gonna play portia because I do really miss it

Sam

Okay

Karly

And I've needed an excuse to go back to it and I think this will be it

Sam

Okay yeah that's a good plan so maybe I'll play portia too on my on the playstation

Karly

Yeah so uh here's hoping I don't end up in the hospital next week

again

Sam

Yes please none of that

Karly

Yeah I'll do my best

Sam

All right I'll see you next week

Karly

All right

Both
