Karly
Hey there, welcome to our podcast where we try to figure out life together one video game at a time. I'm Karly.

Sam
And I'm Sam. grab a snack, grab your controller, and let's hang out and play.

Karly
Hey, buddy.

Sam
Hey, dude. Ooo.

Karly
Wow spicy.

Sam
It was spicy, because I feel like I haven't said it in a while or sang it.

Karly
I know. It's been a week and a half.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
A little more.

Sam
Yeah. Everything's all discombobulated. I feel like because and I think we said it in the last one. But like we normally record on Fridays, but today's Sunday.

Karly
Yeah. So we're recording through the Sunday scaries.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Yeah. How are you though? I truly like have not talked to you this week. So

Sam
I know. And I feel like this week was a blur. I mean, last week, I was - my family was in town. And my parents were here on the west coast. They - let me just let's just talk about the housing market right now. Because shits wild.

Karly
Very adult conversation. Okay.

Sam
I know. I know. I learned a lot with my parents, I feel like. So they came down here with the sole purpose to look for a house, or like a townhouse or you know, a village or something. So I was with them from Friday through Monday, we saw in total 11 properties. The first one we saw on Friday, when I met up with them was this beautiful cottage. It was eight miles from the beach, beautiful, beautiful, smaller place, but like had a huge backyard. Very charming. And like my parents fell in love with it. They were going to put in an offer. The next day on Saturday, it was already under contract, or something like that. So other places that we saw were like, eh whenever. Saturday, we saw three more properties. Wasn't really feeling any of them. Sunday, we didn't house hunt. Monday, we did. Nothing really stood out to my parents, which was fair, they did kind of realize it was good, because like all the house hunting made them realize like, even more so like what they wanted and where they wanted to be, which was good. Here's the craziest story though. So on Monday, our real estate agent down here, his name is Sean, he's a friend of my dad's. So wonderful human being he was like chauffeuring us around to these different properties. We're at lunch, and he sees this house pop up on the MLS database, which is like a real estate, like database type thing. Right?

Karly
Okay.

Sam
Wasn't even available for showings until Tuesday. And so my parents were leaving Tuesday night, so they were going to set it up so they could go see the place. Right.

Karly
Right.

Sam
This place this house in 24 hours had 14 offers on it.

Karly
Good lord. How are people able to afford this?

Sam
Yeah. Well,

Karly
You would think like in the middle of a pandemic, like nobody could afford to buy a house.

Sam
No that but that's exactly why people are doing that is because interest rates are stupid low on mortgages.

Karly
Yeah, but actual mortgages are still so high.

Sam
I don't know, I think it depends. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I can't afford a house. But it was nice to like, house hunt . Like I was like, it just made me want a house like I mean. Like I said, I can't afford one. But I want one, right.

Karly
I mean, same. But yeah, my mom and I have like looked into houses and stuff. And like the interest rates from what we've seen, like, like you said, are pretty good. But the actual, like prices of houses have not gone down from what I've seen.

Sam
No, no, they haven't. My parents

Karly
like how, how can people afford this?

Sam
My parents put up their house for sale on Friday for 799. And they got an offer on it for full price on Saturday.

Karly
Your house is worth almost 800,000?

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Jesus.

Sam
It's a very small house, but it's in a great location. It's very small.

Karly
You guys rich rich.

Sam
No. It's very, very like it's it way small. It's just Ocean City is a huge tourist town. It's a huge, like, vacation area. So.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
This game kind of reminds me of Phobia. Which I know we should tell people what we're playing and we will let's build suspend.

Karly
Yes.

Sam
But yeah, that's what it reminds me of. But yeah, so that's where I've been kind of like MIA this week. That was, I was with them through Monday. And then I love my parents, but like, four days is a great amount of time. I was so excited to come back to my bed and come back to my dog. So it's been it's been good. How are you? How was your week? Fill me in.

Karly
Um, I mean, not really anything happened during my week.

Sam
It be like that sometimes.

Karly
Um... I... yeah, pretty much nothing to report on my end just been working. Just been being sad. Playing video games.

Sam
That's, that's fair. What, speaking of video games...

Karly
Yes.

Sam
What are we playing?

Karly
Um, well, first of all, I had this idea. And mostly, this idea was spawned from the desire to have an excuse to buy new games. But Sam and I are trying out something new. There's been a lot of sales recently. So for this episode, I went through and I picked a game that neither of us have ever played before. And we're going to try it out together for the first time and next episode, Sam is going to pick a game and we're going to try that one. Today we're playing Gris, which has been out for quite a while because I wanted to play it for years. But it's a really, really pretty puzzle adventure platformer game. But looks really cool. Looks like, like watercolor, basically. And that's what drew me in immediately was the art style.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
So that's what we're playing tonight.

Sam
It's really interesting. I don't really know what I'm doing.

Karly
Yeah, me either.

Sam
Oh, oh, no. Ohhh.

Karly
It's a little bit of a bummer because I'm playing without any sound.

Sam
Yeah, same.

Karly
Because I don't want the mic to pick it up. And I don't have a second pair of headphones that I can use. So I feel like I'm probably missing out on some really great audio.

Sam
I know. It sounds like it probably has a beautiful soundtrack.

Karly
Yeah, I'm sure it does.

Sam
And like I said, it kind of reminds me of that game Phobia that I also got on sale. Like very basic controls that I can see. That kind of 2d. A lot of like platformer jumping. Oh, I'm like on this weird tower. Okay, everything got smaller. Oh, what is that? Oh, that's not something. Is that like a flying Stingray? What the heck is happening?

Karly
I haven't seen that yet.

Sam
I have my second interview on Wednesday for that TL position.

Karly
Oh, really?

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
That's exciting.

Sam
Yeah, I'm excited.

Karly
Well, good luck, friend. keep us updated. I see now the flying stingray also sort of looks like a towel on a clothing line.

Sam
Right.

Karly
Not really sure what's happening. So one thing that I did do this week. While I worked, I watched the new Nintendo Direct to see what games are coming out. Big exciting news.

Sam
Yes?

Karly
Guess what game is getting a sequel?

Sam
Spiritfarer.

Karly
No.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
That would that would be exciting. But no.

Sam
Is it a game I played?

Karly
Yes. We've both played it.

Sam
On the switch?

Karly
Yes.

Sam
Oxenfree?

Karly
Yes.

Sam
Really?

Karly
Yeah. Oxenfree 2 is coming out.

Sam
That's amazing. That's super exciting.

Karly
Yeah, I'm really excited because I loved Oxenfree. It's so weird. But I really loved it.

Sam
Oh, okay. Okay. This is so cool. So I brought back the color red. Don't really know what that means. Other than

Karly
I just did it, too.

Sam
Oh, which way am I supposed to go both? Oh, that's super exciting. I really want to play through Oxenfree again, just because I know there's like multiple different endings. And I want to see if I can get a different ending.

Karly
Yeah, same because you and me got different endings.

Sam
Yeah. Because I said heck it to that bitch girl.

Karly
Yeah, I can't think of her name. But if you haven't played Oxenfree I very much recommend it's I think full price only $10 and it goes on sale sometimes you can get it on PC or switch. I'm not sure what other consoles you can get it on. But I really really loved it you basically play as this teenage girl who goes on a trip with her friends and her new stepbrother to like this weird island, and most of the game, so it's like a narrative game. So there's not like a ton of like fighting or action or anything like that. It's you wander around and explore and uncover this mystery of the island. But you have a radio. And so all over the island. They're like these strange things that happen. You can sort of tune in with your radio and use that to find new clues and uncover stuff. It's a really clever well done game.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
And like depending on like, what dialogue options you choose with the different characters, it can completely change the story, which is really cool.

Sam
Yeah, and for me, like it took me a while to figure out the like the controls in order to pick the right dialogue. So like, in the beginning, I was like choosing stuff. I was like, wait, no, I want something else. But then like as I did it, I was I went through like I figured it out. But yeah, it's and it's creepy. It's not scary, but it is like creepy.

Karly
Yeah, it's unsettling.

Sam
Yeah, that's a good word for it.

Karly
I played it on PC and really liked it. I think the controls might be a little bit easier on PC. So if that matters to you at all. And I got it for like $1 on Steam when it was on sale. So it was absolutely worth the investment.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Not that it was much of an investment but but yeah, I'm really excited.

Sam
Same, that's amazing. God, if only they made a Spiritfarer

Karly
Well, Spiritfarer, I think is a little too new to have a sequel coming out.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
But they have added new characters to to Spiritfarer.

Sam
Really? Interesting.

Karly
Yeah. So I haven't - I beat Spiritfarer quite a while before they introduced new characters, so I don't I don't know like would I have to start over from the beginning.

Sam
Right.

Karly
But that's a really beautiful game. I also really recommend that one.

Sam
Catch me out here

Karly
Will probably make you emo.

Sam
 restarting Spiritfarer.

Karly
It's so good, though.

Sam
Sidenote, I I feel like there's so many different ways you could go in this game. Like when so when you got the new color right when you got red? Did you go left or right.

Karly
I went right.

Sam
Okay, me too.

Karly
I'm currently just falling.

Sam
I just did that. Okay. Oh, okay. Interesting.

Karly
So, your parents got an offer on their house? Have they like accepted itfully? Or?

Sam
No, because they had three more showings today. So they wanted to wait and see if they could get anything else or get even higher price.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
Am I suppose I've just done that? Oh, okay. Yeah, I guess it was. Okay.

Karly
When do you think they're going to move down here?

Sam
I don't know. I was actually just talking to Lexi about that. I don't know if, if, when they sell their house, if they're going to like, stay up there. And then like fly down to find a place. That doesn't really make much sense to me. So I feel like they might try and find like a monthly rental or something that they can do like short term. Like while they search for something, but depending on what offer they accept, and like when when their house would close, then would depend on you know, when they would be down here,

Karly
Right. I can't believe your house is worth that much. That's so wild. I mean, you're in like a really cool area so like that makes sense. But damn.

Sam
Damn. Yeah, and it's crazy to me, because like when my parents move down here, like they're gonna be retired. Like they get to retire. They get to just like

Karly
Really? They're gonna like fully retire?

Sam
Yeah, maybe not fully. My mom says she would maybe want to do something like part time. And my dad might get his real estate license down here in Florida just so he could do some stuff. Like on the side if you wanted to.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
But yeah, I just can't imagine because like, I'm going to be working forever.

Karly
I mean, yeah, I... we could go into the trappings of SSI another time but yeah, I'm pretty much never retiring.

Sam
Right.

Karly
I wish I was house hunting.

Sam
God same. I spent all last week, like at nighttime. I would go on Zillow. Thinking just,

Karly
I mean, you know me that's already like my past time.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
So if you can have like, What's your dream house? Do you know what it would be what it would look like?

Sam
No, not really I mean, oh, crap. Sorry. I just fell. Um, I don't know. Cause I thought a lot about this. And here's the thing, like, you gotta like take into consideration right? Like, do you want a house? Do you want a town house? Okay, and then if you have a house, do you want to be in a community that has like the HOA fees? You know, to set to a point to an extent they're kind of nice, because then they do everything for you. But then like, it's an added fee on top of

Karly
Well some of them do stuff for you.

Sam
Right. Right.

Karly
In my old neighborhood, we had an HOA and they didn't do anything except harass you.

Sam
Right? So like, there's that and then like, I think, for me, like in current like where am I at? In my life? I feel like I would like like a townhome with maybe like a community pool because then I can like go if I want to

Karly
without the upkeep

Sam
Without the upkeep. Yeah. Still have a place like to call mine and like decorate and you know, do what I want with it. So

Karly
And how would you decorate it like what would you say your home aesthetic would be?

Sam
I don't know. I really like I really like grays and like light blue and white.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
For color schemes. I want to sectional couch.

Karly
Oh my god same.

Sam
Like the dream. I'd have maybe my own. I want one thing I do want one thing that is a goal of mine is I want a library in my house. I just want a room full of shelves of books.

Karly
Yeah, love that.

Sam
Yeah, that's, I guess. I haven't really thought about it too much.

Karly
That's fair.

Sam
I say as I like describe almost everything but

Karly
I feel like no you didn't I feel like I feel like you don't let yourself fantasize about it too much because like you said, you can't afford it right now anyway.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
I on the other hand, love to torture myself. So I've given it extensive thought

Sam
Right. So tell me tell us everything.

Karly
So I go back and forth on like, actual like style of home that I would like. I love the idea of like a cute little like cottage.

Sam
Mm hmm.

Karly
But I feel like maybe like a ranch house might might be kind of nice and accessible.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
I lived in a rancher before and it was pretty cute. Um, I want big windows, lots of light. And like, I want to have like one of those houses that's like filled with plants and has like flowers and like flower boxes and lots of cute stuff like that I would love similar to you, but instead of a library I would love to have like an art room.

Sam
Mm hmm.

Karly
That would be really nice. I really would love to have hardwood floors.

Sam
Yeah

Karly
That'd be great. And then I just want like outside space because in the apartment that I have now we have a screened in patio but the sliding doors one like I don't want to drive over the tracks because my wheelchair is very heavy and I don't want to bend the tracks and then the door can't shut but also the door doesn't even slide open wide enough so like I have outside space but I have no access to it.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
And where I used to live we had a big screened in patio and I used to sit outside all the time. And I can't anymore so I really miss that. So I would love to have like a nice screened in porch.

Sam
Yeah, I think a nice outdoor areas a must or like something that I think anyone in Florida would like to have.

Karly
Yeah. And I would love to have a pool. But one that's very expensive.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
And I wouldn't be able to use the pool without getting like pool lifts installed and that's expensive. And like, I wouldn't be able to use it on my own either. So like, it's not really worth the investment for me probably. I would love to have it like, if we're just speaking like dreams.

Sam
Right

Karly
and they're not really like realistic. Which To be fair, nothing about talking about home ownership is realistic.

Sam
Right. Remember your pool boy? What was his name? Richard? Did I make that up?

Karly
I don't remember.

Sam
I think it was. Good old Richard. The one time we talked to me when he asked me to move.

Karly
Move. Yeah, in the before times.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
It was a long time ago.

Sam
Yeah, it was.

Karly
Um, what about like, where you would want to live? Do you have like a dream location you would love to live?

Sam
Oh, yeah. 100%. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live on an island, like in the Caribbean.

Karly
But like, what about like, like, realistically, like, if you could buy a house like next year? Where would you? Where do you think you would want to go?

Sam
Um, I would want to stay around this area? Probably.

Karly
Yeah?

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Yeah. I think I would like I would like to be closer to Orlando.

Sam
Side note, did you get to the part where you learned a new move?

Karly
No.

Sam
Okay. Well, I thought it was going to help me do something and it didn't.

Karly
Oh, wait. I think I'm doing it right now.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
Hold Y?

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
I don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing though. I don't understand the new move.

Sam
It just like, makes you like, break the ground I feel like but I thought it was gonna help me with that, like, dot over like towards the left when you like first fall. But didn't do anything.

Karly
I don't know what you mean.

Sam
I don't know, it just didn't do anything. I'm super confused.

Karly
Same.

Sam
I guess that's the fun of this, though.

Karly
Yeah. So what are your thoughts on the game though, so far?

Sam
I like it. I wish and again, I'm gonna play it a little bit more after we stop recording so I can listen to the music. But I do really like the art style. It's really pretty.

Karly
It really is. It's also just interesting, because like, it's a platformer but doesn't look like anything I've ever played before.

Sam
I'm very intrigued.

Karly
Same.

Sam
What's her story? Why does she have blue hair? Where's her family?

Karly
Where did she come from?

Sam
And where did she go? Where did she come from Cotton Eye Joe. In case someone wants to know, that's my favorite song.

Karly
It's unfortunately true.

Sam
Right, like not ironically, like it's one of my favorites. Oh, snap. I can't get on. Do you just keep getting blown away by the wind?

Karly
Yes, there's it looks like a big dust storm.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
just keep sweeping me. But yes.

Sam
Okay, so we're in the same spot. Oh, man. How do we, I. So, okay, so where I was talking about so if you go back to the left, and you keep going and going?

Karly
Yeah, I did find that. You. You like slam through it? Yeah.

Sam
But can you break it? Can you go down?

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
Oh, How'd you do that?

Karly
Um, I just jumped and hit Y.

Sam
Oh, I wasn't doing it fast enough. I gotcha. I wasn't doing it correctly. Okay, well,

Karly
But it didn't seem to do anything so. Like I broke through but

Sam
Well, I think we're supposed to be doing something with those lights. But I don't know.

Karly
This is gonna make absolutely no sense to anybody listening. But that's okay.

Sam
Also shocking to nobody. We did not hold up our end of the bargains in our last podcast.

Karly
Oh, what a surprise. Sam's not playing Portia.

Sam
Wow. I'm gonna play it after this.

Karly
Okay. Sure you are. I will say though, this is just sort of an update for everybody. I've been playing a lot more Story of Seasons, and I'm liking it a lot more.

Sam
I figured it out.

Karly
Did you?

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Well homie share.

Sam
Oh, I didn't know if you wanted me to tell you.

Karly
Oh I do.

Sam
When the dust storm comes, hold down Y it'll just keep you in place.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
but now the dust storm isn't ending so uh oh

Karly
Yikes. Life be like that sometimes

Sam
I let go and then it finally passed but

Karly
but yeah I am liking Story of Seasons better. I've gotten farther.

Sam
Yeah?

Karly
I feel like every time I play like it gets more fun.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
I still think if it were me I think it's good to wait for a sale but it is. It is really fun.

Sam
Okay, that's good to know that's definitely different from your original thoughts.

Karly
Yeah. Have you been playing anything this week?

Sam
Just Final Fantasy.

Karly
Yeah, How are you liking it?

Sam
Oh, I love it. It's all I've been thinking about.

Karly
Really?

Sam
Yeah. Oh, I see. Okay, I have you have to move. I was like, this dust storm is an ending. That was unnecessarily stupid. complicated. For me.

Karly
Well, we're doing our best here.

Sam
Oh, man.

Karly
So do you have any plans for this week? Anything coming up other than your interview?

Sam
Um, no. Thank goodness again last week I love my parents, but it wasn't like a vacation. We were up so early every day. Like which rightfully so. Like, they have things they need to do it. So it made sense.

Karly
Yeah, they have limited time and everything.

Sam
Right. So I think it's gonna be nice. Just like not do anything on my days off.

Karly
Yeah. Except hang out with me.

Sam
Sure.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
Sure Jan.

Karly
Okay, you don't have to.

Sam
I'm just kidding.

Just out here trying to cause a 3am panic.

Karly
I mean, you're succeeding. Thanks.

Sam
I was just kidding. Am I doing this correctly? I don't know.

Karly
I get my vaccine in one week.

Sam
Yay.

Karly
One week from yesterday.

Sam
been one week since you looked at me.

Karly
But it will be very exciting, because that means that soon we can hang out.

Sam
Yes.

Karly
It's gonna be really weird.

Sam
Yeah. I know. Cuz, I mean, like, We haven't seen each other since Christmas time.

Karly
Nope. And that feels like so long.

Sam
It really does. Another lifetime ago.

Karly
Right. And like before that we hadn't seen each other since June. And that we only saw each other because of like a crisis that was happening.

Sam
I'm at the part where there's like lots of like, they look like cell phone tower kind of with like different platforms. And there's like a there's like a ledge I need to get to but I can't reach it.

Karly
Not a 100% sure

Sam
Can you see that? Are you there? Have you passed that?

Karly
I think I'm past that.

Sam
Oh, did you get Oh crap, or am I did you get the? How did you get the little circle glowy thingy?

Karly
I'm- friend. I'm not gonna lie to you I don't remember.

Sam
Oh no. I mean, we didn't learn any other moves. How am I supposed to do this? Maybe we can.

Karly
Is that the part where there's like a like a, like a power line kind of thing you can run across but it only shows up sometimes.

Sam
Maybe it might be one of those parts. They just may not. I have to keep going to the right first before I can go back maybe? I don't know. I'm thinking so because I can't get it. Okay. What's the story of this game? What is this girl's story? What are we running to? Oh, no, like,

Karly
I wonder if there's like narration that we're missing. That would be really embarrassing. I probably should have looked that up before picking this game. But you know.

Sam
No that's alright. I think this is fun.

Karly
Do you have any games that you have in mind that you might pick for next week? Or is it gonna be like a total surprise?

Sam
I don't know. I mean, I have some stuff on my wish list that were on sale so maybe we'll do one of that. Also homie though side note I can't get anywhere else. I'm stuck here. Oh man.

Karly
I don't know how to help here in this scenario.

Sam
It's okay, I'm going

Karly
but you know thoughts and prayers.

Sam
No. Okay. I don't think I am missed anything. Okay, is that creature that looks like a rock and I came this way is about to be the first and last time I ever play this game.

Karly
Wait, can I see where you're at again?

Sam
Yeah, hold on.

Karly
Okay. Yeah, I'm not where are you trying to get?

Sam
Hold on. There's a thing coming. One second. There's there's some light glowy lights right there. Do you see? You're able to

Karly
Sort of? Yeah, I don't know. I think I just kept going to the right.

Sam
But I can't go to the right either.

Karly
Oh, I don't know.

Sam
I'm like there's a huge boulder that I can't I can't get past

Karly
That's a real pickle.

Sam
That's a real pickle. Sure is. Sure is. I don't know. Yeah, I can't. This damn dust storm is about to get effed if it doesn't knock it off.

Karly
Yeah, I'm stuck on my spot too find makes you feel any better.

Sam
No, we got to be stuck at the same spot together.

Karly
Well, we're not. I'm sorry.

Sam
Why do we even play video games?

Karly
I don't know

Sam
I hate em.

Karly
I have been working a lot on my Animal Crossing Island.

Sam
Yeah?

Karly
Yeah, I know that I talked about starting over and like, getting like a whole new island. I did that do that. I was getting some good DIY is and I was like, I cannot. I have too much going for me here. But I so we have a couple friends who have birthdays coming up. So I've been working on this new party zone section of my island. And I am very excited to show it to you.

Sam
I'm very excited to see it. When's the next party?

Karly
The 24th.

Sam
Okay,

Karly
For Steph, if we do it on her birthday anyway.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Then Abe will be like, a week or two after. Very exciting very exciting. I'm basically at the top of like a windmill right now.

Sam
I'm the top of your mom.

Karly
I'm gonna tell booboo said that.

Sam
No, don't tell boo boo.

Karly
And you'll never get another snack plate.

Sam
Nooo I'm just kidding. I'm just mad. I'm very grumpkins.

Karly
And that was the moment you became dead to booboo.

Sam
No!!!

Karly
just kidding.

Sam
She won't exile me because she loves Rosie too much.

Karly
I mean, you're not wrong. That is your safety zone, your safety net. How is Rosie? Did you miss her while you were gone?

Sam
I missed her. Like, ungodly amount. Like I dropped her off on Thursday and came home and like stared at Lexi and just like cried. Like had tears in my eyes. Like I came out. And like Walter was on the ottoman and I was like, I miss Rosie.

Karly
Walter is her cat.

Sam
Oh, yes.

Karly
Wow, what a time to be alive.

Sam
So I did miss her. But the girls that watched her were so nice and sent me tons of pictures of Rosie while I was gone, so.

Karly
That's good at least you had proof of life.

Sam
Yeah. Did I well like did I tell you what happened when I dropped her off that she got out of the house.

Karly
No.

Sam
Okay, so I dropped her off at my friend's house and they live like in like a split home. So like, when you open their front door there's just like steps that immediately go into their place. And so I opened the door.

Karly
I hate that. Very offensive to me and my people.

Sam
So I opened the door and Rosie leash still on just bolted up the steps like she was home. And which was good. Like that was comforting to me to know, like that she you know, felt comfortable or whatever. And so while she was inside, me and my friend Marissa, who was watching her, was like getting her stuff from the car. And so I was the last one to close the door. And I guess I didn't close the door all the way like it was closed, but like, just barely, I guess. And so we're all like up the steps and like whatever and I wasn't there for very long but then I was like, Alright, like I guess I should probably go. And again Rosie had been ignoring me like she was just like living her best life getting all like the pets and stuff. But then when I went to go leave, she went to go follow me and she ran down the steps and just hit her nose on the door and the door flew open and she went running. which normally terrifies me and I get really crazy, but I was calm, and I immediately like dropped to the ground like crouched down and called her name. And she came. I was like, come here. And when did you know? This bish ran straight past me and back into the house.

Karly
Well, at least she didn't like run away Run away.

Sam
This is very true. Very true.

Karly
Cuz she does have a tendency to be a little chaotic.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
That's good that she was like, comfortable with your friends and everything.

Sam
Yeah. I am really just like going backwards now. Because I don't know what else I'm supposed to be doing. I know that this is not what I'm supposed to be doing. But like, I don't know what else to do.

Karly
Sorry bud. There's like, it's hard to describe the different areas as well as like, it's kind of hard to help each other.

Sam
Yeah. Kay I'm going back. Now I'm at the rock man.

Karly
The Rock Man.

Sam
The rock man. Okay, back to these stupid pole ledges.

Karly
So I, I talked about it a little bit with Lexi but now that you guys are getting vaccinated and stuff, this means you're going to be going back to work kind of soonish?

Sam
I'm not. Nope, not me.

Karly
Not in the summer?

Sam
We just got an update that we're working from home through July.

Karly
Like to the end of July. Interesting. Is it just because they would still have to space everybody out and there's not room to do that?

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Gotcha. Are you happy about that?

Sam
Um, yeah. Yeah. I don't want to go back to the office, so.

Karly
Just because you like working from home or because you hate your job?

Sam
I did it. I knew. Okay. Okay. I had to wait for the gust of wind to blow me to that ledge.

Karly
Hmm. I don't remember doing that. So I don't know did I just skip it?

Sam
I don't know. Because now I still can't get over there. I can't get over the ledge.

Karly
Interesting.

Sam
Um, back to your question. I don't want to go back to the office because I need a place where on a stepped away or on my lunch, I can go scream or cry into a pillow or hug my dog really tightly or hide in the bathroom. Which I do a lot.

Karly
Yeah. Yeah. I was lucky in that I already like worked from home.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
So my like work situation was not affected by COVID. Except for like, the amount of work we had for a while slowed.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
But I, you know, I already worked from home. So I'm lucky in that. I don't have to worry about going back.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
But it'll be weird to see. Like, I don't know, people like working in an office again. I'm so used to everybody's working from home.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
I hope though, that things stay remote. Or at least stay with the option to be remote because it's opened up so many possibilities for especially like disabled people. But I mean, I imagine it's gotta be great for like, parents as well. They don't have to worry about childcare.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
And like, clearly, we've proven that remote work can be done.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
So I'm hoping that it doesn't go away. And I'm kind of worried about it, though.

Sam
Karly I'm still stuck on this part.

Karly
Friend, so am I. I'm not sure how to help you here. So the area that I'm in, it looks like I'm in sort of like a cave. And there are these different platforms that you can jump up to, but then they lead you towards like this center area. And they're these two sort of pillars. And they kind of go down when you jump on them. So I've been holding Y. It slams them down, but they don't stay. Oh, I figured it out. Took me a minute, but I got there in the end.

Sam
Yay.

Karly
I can't believe tomorrow's Monday.

Sam
Yeah, I said that earlier. But technically, tomorrow's my Tuesday. So not that mad about it.

Karly
Well, tomorrow's my Monday and I'm very mad about it.

Sam
I'm sorry.

Karly
It's okay I mean I do like my job like it's not that I don't but I just feel like in the times of pandemic like I don't want to be working.

Sam
That's fair

Karly
Like I'm just so like the level of anxiety and depression is just too much right now so like the thought of like waking up early and being in the headspace to do good work is just a lot.

Sam
Yeah

Karly
And the weekends just go so fast

Sam
So fast

Karly
Like it feels like a one day weekend at most

Sam
Yeah

Karly
like it takes so long for like my brain to like shift gears into weekend mode that by the time it's there it's the end of the weekend

Sam
I'm going to rage quit this game

Karly
Oh same big big big same

Sam
I just don't how did you do it I can't get past this

Karly
oh I forgot I was gonna say another thing and it completely slipped my mind at the beginning of the episode.

Sam
What?

Karly
We over the past week I think hit 50 downloads for our podcast

Sam
Amazing. 45 of them were me.

Karly
It was not maybe 10 of them are you.

Sam
I've listened to each one twice.

Karly
Okay well that that's max 14. And did you listen to them all like on spotify?

Sam
Yes

Karly
Oh well to the 36 other of you, hey thanks.

Sam
Yeah love that for us

Karly
I know like it doesn't sound like much but you know we are we're still new at this so it's exciting that anybody listening at all

Sam
Honestly

Karly
Thank you for listening

Sam
Yes

Karly
We will get better at promoting our episodes

Sam
I know I am so I was so bad at it this week I'll have to post the link.

Karly
The problem with that is that I also have a blog that I've run for a few years. I haven't done anything with it in a while but the worst part of it was always like promoting it because I always feel like such an asshole. I don't know why it just makes me anxious. And also when I'm like sad or anxious then I tend to not want to go on social media.

Sam
Yeah

Karly
Which I kind of have to do in order to promote stuff but like we have a lot of ideas for stuff that we want to put on our social media so like maybe one day you guys will see it.

Sam
Yeah maybe no promises though.

Karly
Well we'll see. Here's hoping.

Sam
Here's hoping.

Karly
Cause it would be nice if more people could find and listen to us.

Sam
Yeah we're funny sometimes

Karly
Sometimes other times we're just completely incompetent like we are tonight but you know it's just part of the package.

Sam
I yeah will I ever pick this game up ever again? Maybe. Oh wait a minute wait a minute.

Karly
The good thing though is like I think this game is going to be much easier when there's sound involved.

Sam
I figured it out I had to go backwards and then fall through the thing oh my gosh now. Oh my goodness gracious. That took me… I'm too dumb for this game.

Karly
No but you got there in the end and that's exciting, good job

Sam
Yeah I guess

Karly
We have been doing this for a while though so we should probably wrap it up.

Sam
I mean this is a good spot to end on. I did the thing. Any thoughts on what you might play next week? Oh we're gonna we don't know that's right.

Karly
We don't know it's gonna be a surprise for all of us. Sam is going to pick a new game.

Sam
Yes I am.

Karly
So that's exciting. I'm looking forward to seeing what we play partly because I just love getting new games. Any excuse to get a new game?

Sam
Yep

Karly
Love it

Sam
Same

Karly
Love it. But yeah thanks for hanging out and playing with me friend I heckin missed you.

Sam
I missed you. I know I'm so happy we're doing this again.

Karly
Yeah and yeah thanks for listening to us wander around completely lost.

Sam
Completely lost, completely angry. Oh gosh I still don't know what's happening. Great. All right well before I throw a temper tantrum guess we should end this so.

Both
