Karly
[Music] Hey there, welcome to our podcast where we try to figure out life together one video game at a time. I'm Karly.

Sam
And I'm Sam. grab a snack, grab your controller, and let's hang out and play.

Karly
Hey, buddy.

Sam
Hey, dude.

Karly
We're back together again. So, since we are recording in person, we decided why not truly make ourselves suffer. Sam, what are we playing?

Sam
Ohhhhh, playing Overcooked 2. And if you couldn't tell, I'm very scared and sweaty.

Karly
I'm really excited. When my brother got the switch, this is one of the first games that I bought for me. And I loved it. And I had everybody play it with me. And pretty much everybody that I made play with me played it one time and then never again because nobody else liked it really. I love it. I think it's so much fun.

Sam
It's just very chaotic. And here's how I know I need, I belong in therapy, where I am, is that I am so afraid of letting people down in even a cooperative game like overcooked.

Karly
No it'll be fine. We're both gonna suck. It's gonna be great. We're gonna start from the very beginning. Level one. It's very easy. We're only recording for like 45 minutes. We're not going to get to hard levels. Gonna be fine.

Sam
This is true, this is true.

Karly
I'm really excited. Also, overcooked has a character in a wheelchair, which I love.

Sam
You love to see it.

Karly
Sam is playing on my brother's switch. So she has it, I can't play it. I'm playing on my switch. I don't have it unlocked yet, but it's very cute. I think it's like a raccoon maybe.

Sam
I don't know. I'm not playing as it. I think it's a raccoon.

Karly
I mean, Sam hates disabled people.

Sam
You heard it here first folks.

Karly
Spread the word.

Sam
No, don't spread the word. For legal purposes. This is a joke. Wouldn't be the first time this week what I've said would be used against me.

Karly
Oh, we're not gonna get into that.

Sam
No, we're not but it's okay. If you know you know.

Karly
Yeah, if you know you know. But yeah, do you have anything you would like to discuss before we get started any life update?

Sam
No, I'm just really ready to get this party started.

Karly
Alright. Here we go. Level one.

Sam
I am mad that you get to drive the truck.

Karly
It's a bus.

Sam
Whatever.

Karly
That's why you don't get to drive it.

Sam
Okay, one of us has their driver's license. I think Ishould get to drive it.

Karly
Wow rude! Sam once again hates disabled people. Okay.

Sam
No, I'm not ready.

Karly
Okay, okay. Okay, what are we making? Sushi.

Sam
Where do you see that? At the top?

Karly
Yeah, at the top left.

Sam
How do you know that's where you need - oh.

Karly
It's in the top left shows you where you have to make - I don't remember the controls!

Sam
Grab.

Karly
Okay A, just use A.

Sam
And then what?

Karly
And then A again to chop it.

Sam
No, it's X to chop.

Karly
Oh, sorry.

Sam
And then put it on a plate?

Karly
And then you take it to this thing over here to deliver it.

Sam
Oh, okay.

Karly
Okay, I'll chop this one on the right, you be in charge of the left.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
Look at that, teamwork makes the dream work. Oh frick!

Sam
Oh no! *yelling and laughing* I can't breathe.

Karly
I threw my fish on the floor and then I took the plate and threw it under Sam.

Sam
Oh god. Are we gonna make it? Oh god. Oh god.

Karly
Move! You took my plate!

Sam
I was getting us plates, I put the plates there. Oh, no. Oh, no, I didn't. It's cute that you thought that we'd be able to talk about anything while we play this.

Karly
I think we're doing okay.

Sam
Yeah, but I can't do anything else. You took my plate bitch.

Karly
Where am I?

Sam
Get your dish off the plate!

Karly
Oh, no, we do.

Sam
Geez. I just kept picking it up and putting it up, pick stuff up and I put things down. Gotta get a frickin plate.

Karly
You can just put it on the pile and pick it up like that.

Sam
Oh, well, that would make things easier. Here. I'll get one. I'll get a shrimpy.

Karly
Oh, we're flamin'.

Sam
Is that a good thing?

Karly
Yeah, it means we're on like a hot streak. We're doing good. I'm proud of us. As the kids say, teamwork makes the dream work.

Sam
How'd you dash like that?

Karly
B.

Sam
Oh.

Karly
Me first, ho. Oh, that's rude. I was just putting it out.

Sam
Oh my god. I'm so sweaty.

Karly
Hey we did great, we only needed 300 and we got 720.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
We're freaking professionals.

Sam
Okay, that was level one. World one level one.

Karly
You have to hit A.

Sam
Oh.

Karly
Okay, my palms are dripping. Anyway, so now that we're between levels?

Sam
Yes.

Karly
We can talk about we actually had plans to talk about for this week.

Sam
I think talking about that in between, because I'm really not going to be able to form coherent thoughts. I don't think while we play.

Karly
Same, same. But we felt like being nostalgic today. So we're going to talk about all the games that we really miss from childhood. I was just thinking about this the other day, I was talking to our friend Abe, who was recently on the podcast, go back and listen to Episode 12.

Sam
Yep.

Karly
Love Abe. Hi, Abe.

Sam
Hi, Abe. Shout out to Abe.

Karly
But we were talking about old games that we love, and how much we wish that we could like get them now for the switch. But yeah, Sam, what's one game that you really miss?

Sam
So Super Mario Land was my first game that I ever played for my Gameboy. It was a handmedown from my older brother. For those that don't know, I have an older brother. Shout out to Jason.

Karly
We can't talk about this because for years into our friendship, I had no idea that Sam had an older brother, or a black dog. And she like dropped both of those on me on one day, and I was like, what are you talking about? It's like, I don't even know you.

Sam
But he gave it to me as a birthday gift. And I actually still have it so I can still play it. But it's so for the Gameboy like you couldn't like save progress originally. And so I got really good. I play this game all the time. I can zip through so many levels in Super Mario Land. Because I would play it all the time and play the same levels over and over again. I never beat it, but it just holds a lot of nostalgia for me. Like lots of memories. So that would be definitely one of my top.

Karly
This isn't one that I miss, but do you want to know what the first game that I got for my Gameboy when I got like my Gameboy because my brother had one but I got one time. Somebody bought me a pink gameboy color.

Sam
I had the purple one.

Karly
And I was allowed to pick any game I wanted from the store. Tell me why. Seven or eight year old me picked Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Sam
Even then, ambitious for money.

Karly
Right? also really overconfident in my ability to answer trivia questions.

Sam
That's hysterical. That at 7 years old you're like, I want to play a trivia game.

Karly
Right? Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? I remember I played it like once. I'm like, Oh, I'm really stupid. Like never played it again.

Sam
Yeah. I played a lot of Gameboy games. I loved my Gameboy.

Karly
I loved my Gameboy, too. I had a Sims for my Gameboy.

Sam
Ooooh.

Karly
I know. My love of Sims goes way back.

Sam
Honestly.

Karly
You could carry chickens in your pocket. Anyway.

Sam
Like, here anyone need a chicken?

Karly
Is that a chicken in your pocket or are you happy to see me? But a game that I really miss is probably one of the ones that I miss the most. And it's what spurred my conversation about old games a few days ago, is it's called Gex Enter the gecko. Have you ever heard of it?

Sam
I have not.

Karly
Okay, we had it for Nintendo 64. I loved this game. You play as this little Gecko. But you travel through these different worlds you like jump through TVs and so each world is like a different theme. I don't even remember like specifically what the different worlds were. But they were so much fun. It was just like a really weird game. And it was sort of a, I feel like the gameplay was sort of similar to like, super mario 3d. Like, kind of like a 3d platformer. It was so great. I would pay so much money to have that redone for the switch. I want it so bad. And no one ever knows what I'm talking about.

Sam
Yeah, I've literally never heard of it, but I'm actually looking at it now.

Karly
Are you googling it? Oh my god. I it was so good.

Sam
If my Wi Fi would like to work. Maybe one day. It was released in 1998 for the PlayStation Nintendo 64 and gameboy color.

Karly
I want it. I'm gonna find an old copy on eBay for the Gameboy make you bring over your Gameboy so I can play it.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
It was so much fun.

Sam
I bet I bet you could still find.

Karly
Probably but I don't have like the Nintendo or the PlayStation to be able to play it. I want them to like either remaster it or just do like a new one.

Sam
Oh my god. Someone has $4.

Karly
Oh my God. What a good game. If you play Gex? Let me know. I can't be the only one.

Sam
Fever dream. Only you.

Karly
Anyway, should we move on to level two?

Sam
Yes.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
We're on a roll.

Karly
We did exactly one level. The easiest level in the game. Okay, we need to get 420. Nice.

Sam
Heh blaze it.

Karly
I mean, I got 527 all by myself. So like if we can't do that we just shouldn't be friends.

Sam
Don't wanna be friends of someone who brings you down. Okay, sushi. Oh, I didn't read that. Okay, so sushi.

Karly
Okay. I will cook the rice.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
You chop the fish.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
And then the seaweed just like lay on the plate.

Sam
You lay that down first?

Karly
Mhmm.

Sam
Take a sushi. Take a Sushi.

Karly
So I have two over here you just have to put the fish on.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
And you can deliver it. I'll make more rice.

Sam
Okay. Oh, okay.

Karly
I will also grab new plates when they're ready.

Sam
Oh god, I keep picking up the sushi instead of cutting it. Okay, we're doing we're doing it.

Karly
We're doing it Mr. Krabs.

Sam
I can grab plates. Oh, wait, are we? Oh, okay, whew.

Karly
There's also a plate up there.

Sam
Oh yeah. Okay, this one just needs rice.

Karly
Okay, I'll bring it.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
Wow we're doing good.

Sam
We are doing good.

Karly
I hesitate to say that but. These old son of bitches walking through our restaurant could MOVE.

Sam
Honestly, the CDC says no.

Karly
Honestly not a mask in sight.

Sam
Not a mask in sight, no one's washed their hands.

Karly
We don't even have a sink.

Sam
Move. Oh my gosh. I feel like you know, you have to have a plan with this with these like levels like okay, who's gonna do what.

Karly
Right communication is definitely key.

Sam
Old man, I will. I will drop kick you.

Karly
I will throw this boiling rice onto your face.

Sam
He just keeps coming back. Dude. Also Time goes by so fast.

Karly
So fast. Hey, Steph's online. Hi, Steph.

Sam
Hi, Steph. We have to get her on to.

Karly
Yeah we do. Frick.

Sam
Okay, okay.

Karly
Wait.

Sam
Ah!

Karly
Wait!

Sam
Well.

Karly
Hey, well, we did it.

Sam
We did do it. Wow. Cool. We did it.

Karly
Good job, bud.

Sam
Thanks I'm so thirsty.

Karly
So what's another game that you miss from childhood?

Sam
Um, so on the similar like Gameboy kick my like, my first game that I wanted, like that I got with my Gameboy was Pokemon Yellow. I also still have it. I just loved it. And that was really my first introduction to Pokemon and that's why like when Pokemon Let's go, Evie, let's go Pikachu came out. I was so excited. I really played that game really hard and fast because it was a remake, essentially of Pokemon Yellow. And it just brought back so many so many feelings and it was so fun. I just really really loved the game. And I think honestly, and this sounds really weird but I think like as a child I was really drawn to it because the cartridge was yellow. And I really liked that.

Karly
That's fair.

Sam
It was really pretty.

Karly
That was like a big part of choosing games back then was like, just like the covers and what looked fun.

Sam
Yep. The clear, the clear cartridges where you can see the things inside? Loved clear things like, loved the clear Gameboy. I wanted it.

Karly
I always wanted it too. I always wanted to clear phone as well.

Sam
Yes ! The clear phone.

Karly
Like from Lizzie McGuire.

Sam
Yes.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
Yep. Wanted it so bad.

Karly
Yep. Um, this is a really, I'll get to my game in a second. But do you remember? Or did you when you were a kid? Did you guys rent video games?

Sam
Yes, at blockbuster all the time.

Karly
Yes! Wasn't that the best?

Sam
The best the absolute best.

Karly
So much fun.

Sam
Because the nice thing was when you did it, like on your PlayStation or your PS2, if you saved it, and then rented it again, like all your saved data was there. So it was great.

Karly
Yeah, I remember we used to get like Sega games. And I think maybe Nintendo 64 games. I can't super remember. But we used to get games. And it was nice because you could also get games like I'm never gonna play this again but I want to try it anyway. And like, just have like a fun weekend.

Sam
So funny story about that.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
So, yes, me my brother rented video games from blockbuster all the time. It was great. And honestly, what a great thinking like they places should do that now they'd make a killing.

Karly
I think Redbox does it.

Sam
Oh, do they? I mean, I know that there are some but not.

Karly
It's not a big thing.

Sam
Yeah. Blockbuster, so iconic. Anyway, I digress. So one time we went to block this bus. Mmm. What? We went to Blockbuster, it was me my brother and my dad. And my mom had like told us in the past, like we were not allowed to get m rated video games. But my dad's a sucker. So love em shout out to my dad. But me and my brother somehow convinced my dad to let us get Grand Theft Auto Vice City.

Karly
Oh, that's a great one too.

Sam
It is. It's a great one. But it is rated M. And so we played it for just a couple of days. I know that we didn't get the entire rental period because my mom found out. And my mom, when she found out returned it that moment.

Karly
Noo!

Sam
She took it out of the PlayStation console and returned it to blockbuster.

Karly
That's so funny. Sandy, what a buzzkill.

Sam
Yeah, and I'm sure my dad got some heat because of that.

Karly
You know, my mom was fairly - sometimes I think, wow, my mom was really chill. We really could watch and do whatever we wanted. I think because we were we were well behaved kids. And also being that like me and my brother were disabled. We had like limited freedom. Yeah, so like, she kind of always had an eye on us anyway, so we had a lot more leeway with like games we could play.

Sam
Oh no, my parents were super strict. My mom in particular, like we weren't even allowed to up until a point able to watch like Cartoon Network for a while like my mom hated the show Ed Ed and Eddy she thought it was like really annoying.

Karly
We watched Ed Ed and Eddy all the time.

Sam
I mean we still watched it. But there was a period where we weren't allowed to. I wasn't allowed to I don't think I've ever seen a full episode of The Simpsons. I was never allowed to watch The Simpsons.

Karly
Watched that all the time.

Sam
Um, yeah, so.

Karly
Wild. Vice City though. That was a really fun Grand Theft Auto. I never -

Sam
We have it actually.

Karly
I think Kevin probably has it somewhere. I never played Grand Theft Auto like the story because there are stories and like quests that you can follow up.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
No, that's not how you play Grand Theft Auto.

Sam
No.

Karly
Grand Theft Auto is you just cause chaos and get as many stars as you can and see how long you can last.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Was Vice City the one with the shopping mall you could go into?

Sam
I think so.

Karly
Okay, here's my I had like it down pat. I had a system when I played because the way we would play is we would take turns. So whenever you die, then it's the other siblings turn.

Sam
Yeah, I think we played it like that too.

Karly
I had a system I would get a bus. Always a bus. Never anything else it had to be a city bus, drive down the sidewalk and just mow through people as much as I could, drive straight to the mall. Go into the mall in the mall, there was a clothing store you could change your clothes and it would wipe out your stars because you like had a disguise or whatever. So I would change my clothes. Get out of my stars. Then there was a store in the mall where you can buy a katana.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
So I would buy the katana, go through the mall, fight - this is gonna sound so horrible. I'm almost afraid to say it, I would find the cops, behead them.

Sam
ACAB man.

Karly
Behead them until like I was getting like upwards of three or four stars and then go change my clothes again and just cycled through that process until I couldn't get away with it anymore.

Sam
That's hysterical.

Karly
I would like specifically hunt down cops with a katana.

Sam
Even then you knew ACAB.

Karly
I was really ahead of my time.

Sam
You really were. Amazing. That is hysterical.

Karly
Wow. But the other game that I miss is nothing like Grand Theft Auto. I really miss the Tony Hawk games. I also did not play the story of Tony Hawk. I mean, there was like, it wasn't really a story. But there were like quests and stuff you could do. Always free skate 100% of the time, I loved it. Because I also was really into Bam Margera and his Viva La Bam show and jackass and all that stuff. Loved it, was way too young for it. But my mom let me watch it anyway. She absolutely hated it. But she loved me watch it. Loved it, and they're bringing the Tony Hawk game back to the switch. And I'm almost surely going to buy it.

Sam
Really? I don't think I'm gonna get it. I do remember playing it. I loved it. And me and my brother had this system where I would do some of the quests because you know, I love a good quest. But yeah, he was definitely better a Tony Hawk than I was.

Karly
I was so bad at it.

Sam
So he would definitely help me like I would definitely try and get as far as I could. But it was definitely a tag team effort.

Karly
Yeah. Yeah, my brother Kevin would do the different things because he likes to like do the missions and beat games and stuff. I could never get like the like trick shots. Like I could do like a trick, but I could never do like the combo. That's what it was I couldn't do the combos. But yeah, I think I'll probably get it just because it probably won't be like that expensive. I'm expecting like a $30 game.

Sam
Yeah. Heck it, we just bought a $30 game.

Karly
We did. Um, I just feel like it'll bring me so much serotonin and also doesn't like free skating on Tony Hawk sound like the perfect I'm bored and I want to do something while I watch TV game? Requires no focus.

Sam
No thoughts head empty.

Karly
You're not gonna like mess up your save file by like not paying attention while you're playing. Yeah, I'm definitely gonna get it.

Sam
Okay, cool. Can't wait to play it on your switch.

Karly
I'll just get it and talk about how great it is and talk you into getting it for yours.

Sam
I don't think that's a game that you can convince me to get.

Karly
We could play it together.

Sam
Nah, it's okay.

Karly
Just drove off a cliff into a lake but it's fine.

Sam
Again, I say I'm the one who has the license here.

Karly
We did fine.

Sam
We got there in the end.

Karly
We all lived. Okay. We're only need to get 320.

Sam
Yeah but look how big the kitchen is now.

Karly
That's okay. We'll just you know, split it up. You pick a side I have a side. Okay.

Sam
Oh, God. Now we have to wash plates.

Karly
Yep.

Sam
What are we making? What are we making?

Karly
I think we're making the same sushi. We are. Okay, I'm over here. So.

Sam
Okay, I bring you cucumbers.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
And I need to get - why wouldn't the rice be over on the side with the?

Karly
I will... Okay. We'll pass each other the stuff we need.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
So you're going to be in charge of washing dishes.

Sam
Okay, where did? Where are the dirty dishes gonna come from?

Karly
Ummm. I don't know.

Sam
Oh, wait. Oh shit. How do I dump the? Oh god. Where do I?

Karly
It's not done that one.

Sam
Oh.

Karly
Oh wait, is it? Oh, it's the cucumber. That's not that.

Sam
Oh.

Karly
Okay. Hold on. Hold on. Chaos.

Sam
How do I Oh god.

Karly
The dirty dishes are right on the sink.

Sam
I got it.

Karly
Okay, I got your rice so you can take that back.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
I do need a plate for this if you can?

Sam
Yep, got it. Oh, God. There you go.

Karly
What am I missing here? Oh, seaweed.

Sam
How do I dump the rice? How do I use the rice?

Karly
You have to put it on a plate.

Sam
I am trying. It's not letting me.

Karly
I don't think it's done.

Sam
Okay, there we go. Here's two cucumbers.

Karly
Can you give me a plate?

Sam
Yep.

Karly
I just threw away my cucumber.

Sam
I got it. How do you use this rice?

Karly
It's not cooked. That's the uncooked one.

Sam
I cooked it though.

Karly
This was the cooked one.

Sam
Oh.

Karly
I took it. I'm stressed. This was hard.

Sam
It's only gonna get harder. Okay, there's another plate. Another plate. Do you need a cucumber? Cucumber.

Karly
Oh my god, I got that out with four seconds to spare.

Sam
I think we did it though.

Karly
We did.

Sam
Oh God, that one was hard.

Karly
That was hard.

Sam
It's the third level of the first world. That's a yikes for me.

Karly
Well.

Sam
Ooof.

Karly
We did it though.

Sam
We did barely. It's only gonna get harder.

Karly
I know. Speaking of hard games, so we had a Sega when I was really little. And most of the games on the Sega were my brothers because like, I don't think I was like old enough to really care about it.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
So I just have played whatever he had. And so there were a lot of games that I loved for Sega. But then, when I was, I think, around 18. I found it was like a Sega collection for the PlayStation 3, maybe. And it had like all of the games from our childhood. Like, it unlocked so many memories when we got that game. And I just really loved that Sega collection, because I would never buy those games individually really.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
But I loved being able to just like flip through and play like all the different ones. I'm gonna google it because there was one. I can never remember what it was called.

Sam
Yeah, I was gonna ask what sort of games were in it.

Karly
Sega Game, man, made out of balls. It's the only way I know how to describe it. Vectorman! Came right up. Google knew what I meant. So Vectorman was like this platformer game. And the only way I know how to describe him was this green man made out of balls.

Sam
Me too.

Karly
It was so hard. Like, even at 18 - that's what he looks like - even at 18 when I played I could not do it. So it says the plot of vectorman is in 2049 the human population of Earth embarks on a migratory voyage to colonize other planets (ew), they leave mechanical orbots to clean up the mess they made on earth.

Sam
Of course we are.

Karly
[Inaudible] and pollution.

Sam
Sounds about right.

Karly
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Vectorman a humble orbot in changed - in charge of cleaning up toxic sludge by simply discharging it into the sun as he lands on Earth. After his last trip he finds chaos and confusion.

Sam
The fact that 2049 is closer than 19 when it was released is really scary.

Karly
Okay, Sega collection ps3. Let's see what else was on this because it was it was a lot of good one. Okay, so I had of course, like, Sonic. I loved Sonic.

Sam
Same.

Karly
It had Streets of Rage, which was like, like a street fighter game, I think. Oh, Golden Axe my brother and I used to play Golden Axe all the time when I was little.

Sam
Look at that cover art.

Karly
I know.

Sam
It's kind of scary. There's a lot going on.

Karly
There's a lot going on. I always played with this guy. I was always the dwarf guy with the axe. But look at her.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Damn. Tan, toned, ready to behead somebody with a katana.

Sam
That guys body is really scary. I don't like people that look like that.

Karly
No super buff. Like like bodybuilders scare the shit out of me.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
But yeah it was like a medieval game. This says Conan the Barbarian style high fantasy. And basically it's just walk around and hit stuff with an axe.

Sam
Love it.

Karly
So we played that a lot when I was a kid. But yeah, just like those random games that you play with your older brother.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Really unlock the nostalgia. What about you?

Sam
Some onfmy first video games I remember playing like on a console were Spyro and Crash Bandicoot Warped for the PlayStation. Sorry, I just got sidetracked because both our animals are in here coexisting peacefully. I saw black out of the corner of my eyes like oh, it's Rosie. No, it's Peri love.

Karly
Peri love.

Sam
And Rosie must be under the bed.

Karly
Is she trying to go out?

Sam
She - no. I mean, she's just laying there contently.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
She's not like, she doesn't seem stressed or.

Karly
Okay.

Sam
She's just chilling. Anyway. Um, so yeah, Crash Bandicoot Warped and Spyro I don't remember which Spyro it was the one where you basically that you had to go around freeing the other dragons because they're all turning to stone. And the nice thing is that they did remake these for the ps4 and the switch.

Karly
Yeah, you have you have crash?

Sam
I do. And I want Spyro it's on my wish list. But I feel like I want to get Spyro for the PlayStation, not the switch. I feel like it's better gameplay on the console. But those two are just again, those are some of the ones where I've just played all the time.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
All the time. I loved them.

Karly
Yeah. I'm scared.

Sam
Same.

Karly
All right. We're doing it.

Sam
Oh god, okay. We didn't even get three stars on this one.

Karly
Well, that was me.

Sam
Oh okay. Well, if you can get two stars by yourself.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
We should be able to get at least two stars.

Karly
We think.

Sam
We think we hope we pray.

Karly
Godspeed friend.

Sam
I'm so stressed.

Karly
Okay, okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. So we're just doing the same recipe as always, I will be in charge of rice again.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
I'll do.

Sam
I'll cut. No. Oh my god. Put it on the thing and chop, you bish. Okay.

Karly
Frick. Okay, so run to the left on the bottom run to the right on the top.

Sam
Yeah. Where's? Where do? Oh, here we go. I lost my place for a second.

Karly
Frick!

Sam
We are not doing well. And this will not.

Karly
I will wash dishes.

Sam
Okay, I'm trying to ensemble.

Karly
You're trying to what?

Sam
I'm trying to assemble. I don't know. I can't talk. Stressed. Oh, okay. This one's a veggie No, put the fish back.

Karly
Okay, I will chop.

Sam
Do you need to chop the cucumber?

Karly
Yes.

Sam
Oh okay.

Karly
Okay so we have two plates of rice.

Sam
Okay, I'm working on. This needs seaweed.

Karly
Oh, I was looking at you frick. I'll chop a fish.

Sam
Oh my god.

Karly
Get out of my way bitch.

Sam
Honestly. Karly said there's no room. What did I just pick up?

Karly
That's a fire extinguisher. Because yes, your kitchen will catch fire.

Sam
Oh my god. Oh my god. Okay, we need another cucumber. Okay, rice.

Karly
I'm going.

Sam
I don't know if that one, okay I'll cut a fish doo doo doo doo because we're gonna lose that.

Karly
It's okay, Periwinkle. Our cats are no longer or our pets are no longer coexisting peacefully.

Sam
I mean, Rosie still under the bed. I think she's.

Karly
That one needs a seaweed down there.

Sam
Okay, I'm going.

Karly
Okay, I have to okay, have to wash dishes. Suddenly there's just a lot of chaos, there's chaos in the kitchen there's chaos in my apartment. My cat is hissing.

Sam
I want to get us. Oh come on come on come on. Yes!

Karly
Good job friend.

Sam
Okay, and we're not going to get any more. But did we do it? I don't think we did. I don't think we got three, no.

Karly
That's okay, we got two stars.

Sam
We did.

Karly
Are there any other any final games that you would like to give shout out to that you miss from childhood?

Sam
Yes, Kingdom Hearts 1 we play, or Abe played it last week. But that's like an OG game for me. Like I loved it. I played it for the longest time I would even play it on vacation. Like I loved it so much.

Karly
I've never played it.

Sam
You should play it.

Karly
I didn't play it in childhood or as an adult.

Sam
We talked about a lot in our last episodes. If you want to hear us talk about Kingdom Hearts. Check it out.

Karly
This is actually gonna be uploaded later. So it'd be Episode 12.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
This will be a couple episodes from then. But yeah, um, we have like a little list of games we want to remember to talk about this one that I'm going to talk about is not on my list. I just remembered.

Sam
Okay, that's fun.

Karly
We're going way back.

Sam
Okay.

Karly
This is a PC game. From when I was like 5 or 6.

Sam
Oh, I have a pc one. Yeah.

Karly
I had a couple.

Sam
Okay. I wonder if we're going to talk about the same ones.

Karly
I doubt it. Um, mine was a dollhouse game.

Sam
Okay. No.

Karly
Um okay. Give me What's yours? I'm going to Google mine.

Sam
Putt putt.

Karly
I didn't have putt putt.

Sam
Do you know I'm talking about? Putt putt was the purple car. Oh my god, I loved him.

Karly
Fisher Price dream dollhouse.

Sam
I think I had that too. Actually.

Karly
This game was my jam. I played it for so many hours. And like, could you do anything? No, like, you literally get like this little dollhouse. And you can like click on like, the different things in the room. And it'll like react, make a noise. You could like wash the dishes or whatever.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
I loved this game. It was so much fun.

Sam
Yes. I did have this one. I think.

Karly
Yes it was so much fun. I loved it. And there was like little mini puzzles and stuff.

Sam
Yeah. I think I had that. It looks very familiar.

Karly
Yeah. Um, there was also this game that I played.

Sam
Yes. I definitely had this game.

Karly
Yeah, wasn't it fun? There was a game that I played with my brother. And I feel like it was a Spider Man game. But I don't know was it exclusively Spider Man or was like Spider Man just like part of it. But you can make like little like movies.

Sam
Cute.

Karly
I'm googling it. Let's see. Spider Man cartoon maker nostalgia. I think this is it. I think this is it. Oh my god. Oh, yes. So basically, you would get like these different scenes or whatever. And you could draw on it paint there would be like stickers. Or you would get like these characters and you could like click and drag them around and record it and make like these little like mini movies.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
And we also had a mic at the time. So basically, it would just be like, we were just meming I would pay so much money to uncover those files from our childhood computer. I'm sure they were absolute gold.

Sam
That's hysterical. Yeah, my like so putt putt was I love putt puttt I had a couple of those games they were always amazing.

Karly
This is the kind of crap you could make is ridiculous so much fun.

Sam
Oh man, I love it.

Karly
Wow childhood. Yeah, I was gonna say do you wanna try to do level 1.5?

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
I was gonna let you get away with it if you didn't want to because we have been recording.

Sam
I know. We can try.

Karly
Okay, let's commit.

Sam
Oh, God.

Karly
This is one that we're like up in the clouds. We're like on like

Sam
We're on a balloon.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
With two different platforms. Oh, we're gonna die.

Karly
Oh, hell yeah.

Sam
We ain't making it. Although we just need 80.

Karly
Yeah, well. I was trying to get three stars because you use the stars to unlock the levels.

Sam
Yeah, so pasta. Okay, boil pasta. And add chopped tomato meat. Oh my god.

Karly
Okay, okay, okay. I will cook the pasta. That's like rice.

Sam
Okay, I will cut.

Karly
This thing is going to slide so it's going to cut us off. Just be aware. There always needs to be somebody who can go up top and go up bottom. So that's what we'll do. So I'll be at the bottom Okay, always be with where I can do the pasta.

Sam
Okay.Wait, is this one not cut all the way? Hold on. Oh, I have to cook them.

Karly
Yeah.

Sam
Okay, sorry.

Karly
No, you're fine.

Sam
I'll keep an eye on on the dishes too.

Karly
I'll take the finished food out.

Sam
Okay. Oh, geez. What am I doing?

Karly
Does this have everything I need? Yes, okay.

Sam
That one's done.  No, put the - put - girl.

Karly
I stopped talking because honestly I also stopped breathing.

Sam
Same. Okay, I'm gonna keep chopping.

Karly
You know honestly, I'm just proud of us because we haven't had a single fire yet.

Sam
I would - oh, God. Like why can't I add the tomato? Because Samantha you haven't chopped it yet. Oh my god. Put it down. Okay, I'm almost done. There you go. This one's almost done.

Karly
Alright, we're doing okay guys. We're doing okay.

Sam
Oh, God.

Karly
That's okay. I'll chop the tomatoes if you wash the dishes.

Sam
Keep doing the dishes. How do I how do you know when the pasta is done?

Karly
It's already done.

Sam
Oh.

Karly
It's out on like the

Sam
Okay.

Karly
There you go. Shit!

Sam
Okay, okay, you got it. You got it. Oh, God. Okay. Oh, okay.

Karly
We're doing it Mr. Krabs.

Sam
We're doing it.

Karly
I will wash the dishes.

Sam
You're not gonna, it's not -

Karly
Oh right we're out of time.

Sam
Yeah.

Karly
Did we get three stars?

Sam
I think we did. Yeah, we did.

Karly
Oh hell yeah, we only needed 260 we got 440.

Sam
We did really good on that one.

Karly
Wow. I'm proud of us friend.

Sam
Same. That when I felt like it went smooth.

Karly
Yeah. Oh, I unlocked a new chef.

Sam
Fun. Looks like a rascal.

Karly
Honestly. Well, friend, we made it to the end of the episode.

Sam
Good note good note to end on.

Karly

Sam
It really doesn't.
